Which is why he was enrolled in a Madrassa when he was overseas?

That's what happened to all kids in Indonesia at the time. Those were the only schools around. How is that information not getting through your hollow head?

Madrassa is simply the Arabic word for "school."  Therefore, all schools, religious or otherwise, in Indonesia are called madrassas.

"What's the last positive thing that Obama had to say about Christianity and the Christian contribution to the world?"

He has talked about being a Christian constantly.  Here's some quotes for you:

They also teach the Koran and islamic theology. How is that not getting through to your head.

Anyways, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge. Refuse to answer my question. Oh, and to top it off - personal attacks to season it.

So anyone who goes to a Christian private school is necessarily Christian?

In Indonesia they teach the Koran and Islamic theology.

Last I checked the reason they are private is because folks consider such an education religious indoctrination, unworthy of state support.

Are you saying that you do not believe Christian private schools engage in religious indoctrination?

He's saying that you can go to a religious school without necessarily adopting the views of that school; plenty of people send their kids to Catholic schools for the better education, despite a lack of Catholic belief in the parents or kids.

Again, a "madrassa" is just a school.  If you open a Catholic school in an Arabic-speaking area, it's a madrassa.  Not that Arabic is the primary language of Indonesia, but that's all a madrassa is.

Obama went to a Catholic school (or madrassa, if you want to say it in Arabic) for two years in Indonesia and a legimate public school (or madrassa, if you want to say it in Arabic) for a year and a half, and all of this was between the ages of 6 and 10.

This is not even remotely comparable to the kind of school (or madrassa, if you want to say it in Arabic) associated with the Taliban that trains young adults into soldiers to fight for radical fundamentalist Islam.

It's useless, Harry. He'll just continue to play dumb to pretend that his talking points/conspiracy theories have some validity. It's a waste of time to engage with someone like this.

Madrassas in Indonesia (including the one that Obama attended) teach Islamic theology and the Koran. Are you arguing otherwise? He was sent to said Madrassa by his mother's Muslim boyfriend at the time.

OK, so what does that prove? Obama got teached some things he doesn't believe. Of what relevance is that to his presidency?

No, what I'm saying is that you can go to a religious school without being fully indoctrinated by it's teachings; a similar idea to this (but political) would be my high school; it almost openly taught arch-conservative, "Constitutionalist" ideals, and I went to it for 3 years, but I still have my leftist views. So though it engaged in indoctrination, I was not indoctrinated (by that particular school's teachings).

The same thing could apply to a student going to a Catholic or a Muslim school. Do you understand?

I seem to remember Obama explaining this in his last presidential campaign. He said the school he attended is currently Islamic-affiliated but wasn't at the time he was attending. He also said the main reason he went there was because his family couldn't afford to send him to one of the American-run private schools there.

The Catholic Church is pretty darn good at producing ex-Catholics. They may want to take a look at the Baptists, who are far better at turning out life-long believers.

Well yes, but how meaningful is 'belief' if the person has been lobotomized to get it?

I would think it would be very meaningful for the puppetmasters.

Except that it isn't true. The Catholic Church has a higher retention rate in the US than Baptists.

The primary reason why the Catholic Church has the largest net loss from conversions of any of the Christian denominations in the US is the lack of converts to the Church compared to other denominations, not a worse retention rate.

I went to CofE schools and am not an Anglican. It just happens that in the area I grew up in all of the schools were CofE. This sort of thing is not so very strange...

You can't have it both ways. You argue that Catholic schools should not be publicly funded because of religious indoctrination, and yet here are arguing the precise opposite. Which is it?
