Just had to ask, what is attracting Democrats to this forums compared to Independent or right leaning people? Seems like there is not enough of the other side of the spectrum.

The forum is 'liberal' and 'libertarian' because it skews young and young people, especially frequent internet users, skew 'liberal' and 'libertarian'.

Having a big interest in elections is quite a geeky trait, and geeks are more likely to be liberal or libertarian than conservative.

That's subjective.

This forum is not at all left-wing.

I agree for the most part.  It only tends to tilt ever slightly to the left.  It's not far-left.  Romney has his fair share of supporters on this forum just like Obama does.

I believe this website is partly intended to assist college students in compiling election/demographic data for research projects and whatnot, so that's one reason for it.  The internet is fairly liberal in general, though, is it not?

The forum tends to lean a bit liberal.  However, considering the vast majority of the forum is 35 and under, and close to half is 25 and under the forum probably closely reflect the ideological views of those age groups as a whole (though the forum is a bit more libertarian)

Not really. Look at polls on this forum taken on things like labor unions or welfare or affirmative action. Not left-wing at all.

As an overgeneralisation, people who are educated and well-informed tend to skew left.

Due to young voters skewing left wing, and as the forum has more young posters, the forum overall is left wing. Oh and nine times out of ten, non-American posters are left of centre adding to the overall tilt.

What other people said, it's mainly because we're on the internet. As a conservative, there is no other choice but to accept that and be aware that one is part of a minority.

And the funny part is, in America, 'liberal' is considered to be 'left wing'!

The forum isn't left wing. One could argue it's 'liberal' but given that it's a haven for a young demographic the ideals expressed here while liberal in the wider mainstream are fairly centrist.

This forum is more Democratic than Republican, for sure. But it certainly isn't predominantly Liberal. There are quite a bit of Libertarians and Conservatives, which probably match the amount of active Liberals on the AF.
