Sounds like Axelrod is just trying to stem the criticism that the Obama camp spent too much money in the summer.

Still, I hope they keep thinking this way.

I don't think it's over either but Team Romney needs some sort of game changer to win and the 2012 RNC wasn't it.

The headline should be "Major Garrett believes that Team Obama Thinks They've Already Won". But yeah, as it seems now it may seem unlikely Romney could win. They have ran an awful campaign so far.

Dishonest headline by a former fox news reporter.

Both sides have ran mediocre campaigns so far, tbh.

well they are winning but certainly havent won. But I doubt they think they've won.

That being said, there certainly was a defensive tone to the RNC last week. A 'hey we dont hate women and minorities, and Mitt Romney is actually human' quality to it.

But this is in Obama's nature to think he has already won. If you understand the man, this wouldn't be a surprise.

He has a right to think he's favored, because I think he is, but he shouldn't get overly confident.

if you look at Obama's schedule, including how he broke tradition and campaigned during the RNC, it is clear he and his campaign are not taking anything for granted.

Its just a hyperbole headline

Team Obama think they have won already.

Team Obama is singular, so it should be "thinks," i.e., "SCOTUS thinks," or "the DNC thinks," versus "the Justices think," or "the members think."

The headline is misleading.  I think, singular, Team Obama, and Team Romney are both in full panic mode.

The Supreme Court and the DNC are individual establishments. Team Obama is a collective.

Team Obama is. If you agreed with yourself, you would have said "Team Obama are".

Napoleon ftw. But seriously, this is just a UK/North American English issue. We use singular predicates for all grammatically singular subjects, regardless of whether they refer to a group. The Clash is a band, Liverpool is playing Chelsea tonight, the government is considering passing a law, etc.

"The United States is a collection of different states, which are as follows:"

"The Borg Collective is attacking, and five of them are already in the shuttle bay."  Smiley

Since the article has no substance, we might just as well argue about the grammar.

Nobody actually ever says "The Borg Collective." Not even the Borg themselves. And if they wanted to beam over drones, they wouldn't beam into a shuttle bay.

Notional agreement is perfectly valid English, albeit more common in Britain than in America.
