This is something else that's the Republicans' fault.
If they didn't close the shelters, this guy wouldn't have had to start a fire to keep warm.
it's a reasonable interpretation, to a point. but also by that logic, it's the fault of both major parties for being so keen on keeping our system of user-pay services for health care. If the socialists or communists had their way, then we'd have socialized medicine, and the man's mother could have aborted him on the government's dime, so he'd never have grown from being an unloved boy to a disfunctional adult. that's the problem with these analyses, you have to make waaaaay to many unsupported postulates to draw the conclusion. (opebo also points this out as well, albeit in a much more mundane fashion. It should also be pointed out that one can be irrational and abnormal, and not be homeless.)
still, it's a hell of a story. is there ever any good news? let's see...
WAPO today: 9 killed in CA train derailment, Iraq crash kills at least 30 marines, tractor-trailer crash hampers I95 traffic in MD, Microsoft launches anti-piracy plan, .... hmm. OH, here's a good one: Bush nominee Rice passes Senate for secretary of state by vote of 85-13. Yay! (guess you just gotta dig deeper for the good stuff)
