Story.

Ellmers (R)- 44%
Wilkins (D)- 28%

678 RV, MoE= 3.8%

Ellmer's approval is 29/26.

The Ds' best chance here was for Etheridge to run again. Anyway, despite the low caliber of Ellmers as a candidate, I don't think this race should be on the radar for either party.

Etheridge is definitely hitting himself on the head for not running for this seat again. While I'm not sure he could have won, he is a strong campaigner, while Ellmers strikes me as a weak incumbent. It would have been better than his ill-fated run for Governor at the very least.

Anyway Safe R due to the contours of this seat unless Ellmers goes completely over the edge or something.

Is the Democrat running to the right of her on the marriage amendment, like her primary opponent did?

No, he also opposed it.

No, he also opposed it.

Seems like the only posibility to assail her really would be to discourage rural conservatives from voting for her.

Not so sure Etheridge could have won this. The old NC-2 would have been a top pickup opportunity for Dems but the new one is too GOP friendly.
