Can someone explain me in a few sentences why Arkansas U.S. Senator Mark Pryor chose to be a Democrat?

Pryor has been a good, if conservative, Democrat for years.

He comes off as a total DINO to me, but I'm sure someone will post something saying that he votes with Democrats 80% of the time or something to that effect. Tongue

Too many politicians got into politics just because of their father. Jerry Brown is alright, but most of them suck.

It's Arkansas.

He fits in better with the Blue Dogs in the powerful Arkansas Democrat state party than with the very-weak-until-extremely-recently Arkansas Republican state party.

82% from League of Conservation Voters
84% from AFL-CIO
80% from the HRC
B from NAACP
A from NEA

Sounds like a standard Democrat to me, more or less.
