Obama's no longer the cool guy on the block.

Paul Ryan is the new young cool, handsome, attractive, rock star politician.

Will the media fawn over Paul Ryan just like they did over Obama in 2008?

Will Paul Ryan's sculpted abs and biceps win covers of People Magazine?

Will there be Ryan-girls cheering for him at campaign stops?

Yes, yes, and yes. Why? Because Ryan sells.

Obama is so 2008. Obama is the first iPhone whereas Ryan is the new iPad.

Palin was popular for the first few days too.

Hell, Palin is still popular among these same people, who can't comprehend why it is that a pretty mouth doesn't make extremism and stupidity pretty.

I'm loving how our Elite Liberal Media is coaxing these conservatives into going along with all the praise, glory and hype that they are temporarily throwing Ryan's way, so that they can't retreat (with any dignity, at least) when they reverse course and eviscerate him in the coming weeks.

Denial persists. You think his convention speech is going to tone down the popularity?

And the media still loves Palin. We're not discussing popularity among the general public here (though even if we were that's a strawman argument).

All the girls i know say Ryan looks like the Creepy Guy Who Tries To Go Out With You.

So? It's the media. No real link to reality is necessary. That's not what I've heard, though admittedly I've been rather ill in real life and haven't really discussed the Ryan pick beyond members of my immediate family and random Internet people.

Paul Ryan is a weasel with an undeserved reputation. Of course the media likes him.

Yeah, they're apparently banking on Ryan to say stupid [Inks] like, "I can see Russian from my house!"

Poor souls have no idea how brilliant this choice is proving to be. Even I had my initial doubts about it being a politically savvy move, but no more.

He'll probably say something even stupider, like "I can see a balanced budget from my congressional office".

Face it. He's good with the media and knows how to string sentences better than any Republican candidate for president or VP in years. The attacks that he's extreme will fail once the public sees that he's "such a nice and normal guy."

Palin's convention speech got rave reviews! America was going insane with Palinmania. People were talking about how she had revived the Republican party and would save 6 senate and 20-30 house seats for the GOP. Have you all forgotten!? She didn't crash and burn until roughly a week after that.

LOL @ all of the people who think Ryan is going the way of Palin. Palin is a once-in-a-lifetime train wreck. Odds are Paul is going to be the media rock star who replaces Obama. Obama fatigue is setting in, especially with all of these relentless talks about tax returns and how bad it is being wealthy.

LOL @ all of the people who think Ryan is going the way of Palin. Palin is a once-in-a-lifetime disaster.

Just like Ryan who - along with Palin - is among the most unvetted and unqualified people to step so near to the Presidency of the United States.

Far more Congressional experience than Obama, so what are you talking about?

Plus, Paul knows math. There's no reason to believe Obama has ever taken a serious math class in his entire life. Heck, even Bush had more experience with numbers.

And what is it about being a smooth-talker and a "Community Organizer" that makes one uniquely qualified to be president? Oh wait, the last three and half years have answered this question...

At best, he's Jack Kemp, which isn't much. He's not really even getting half the hype that Palin got, which was way over the top.
