If it remains 1-1 (which I don't really believe), we have to rely on the "big brother" Germany to eliminate Sweden for us.

Hey, moron, what's the final score?

This is hilariously awesome since the infamous Denmark-Sweden Euro 2004 match ended 2-2, thus eliminating Italy. This time around, 2-2 seriously hurts Denmark. Karma for the biscotti!

Hungary is really getting slaughtered here, losing now 1:8. Sad for a team that seemed to have a real chance to qualify.

The question is:

If the 1-1 holds, Germany defeats Sweden and we defeat the Faroers, we would be 2nd of the group based on goal difference.

But would that be enough for the play-offs ?

Because as far as I know not all 2nd placed in every group advance to the play-offs ...

Germany becomes the 13th team to qualify. Hope they're not superstitious...
And my commiserations, Tender. It's really sad to lose in such a way Sad

Not to rub salt into your wounds, but yes, it would have been enough for the play-offs. The second-placed team in Group B would have been the one not to reach the play-offs.

Portugal just threw away a huge opportunity, allowing Israel to tie it in the 84th minute. Israel have still been eliminated though.

This means Portugal need to beat Luxembourg by a ton of goals (possible) and have Russia lose to Azerbaijan (not likely) to draw level on points but top the group on goal difference. Looks like Portugal is heading to its third straight qualifying playoffs.

Also, Spain (on home turf) only beat Belarus 2-1. Technically, there is still hope for France to top the group: they need to win against Finland and hope Georgia beat Spain.

They are almost certain to qualify even with this loss, though their chances of being seeded at the world cup will be jeopardized.

Yay!

I think Sweden deserved the win in the end but it was a very tense game. Otherwise, mostly disappointing results.

Well obviously they'll qualify (which is perhaps why they're not trying?), but this isn't what one would normally expect the 5th ranked team in the world (compounded by their flimsy win against Ecuador and loss to Uruguay last month).

And my condolences to Tender.

Yeah, all the teams I was rooting for (except Italy and Israel) lost...

Honduras going up means Mexico's chances of qualifying directly are very low.

In CONMEBOL, Uruguay is lucky to not be down 2-0. The linesman wrongly ruled an Ecuador goal offside.
