If Senator Miller's political ideology was as it is today, I would have voted for Senator McCain

If Senator Miller's political ideology was as it was during his early days as Governor of Georgia, I would have voted for Miller no question

Boss Tweed and A-Max,

Both of you should be congragulated for noting the central point in this interesting thread.

McCain is supported by liberals and Miller by conservatives.

Very similiar to the 2000 primary results where (except for New Hamprshire) Republican primary voters prefered Bush and Democrats voting in the Republican primaries (where permitted) voted McCain.

The difference is that since they are both conservative, McCain has a large following among conservatives as well.

Lunar,

There are two seperate distinctions between Miller and McCain.

First, from all I have seen Miller votehis principles whereas McCain has none.  To put it more precisely, down deep he's shallow!  When the liberal media comes calling he's ready to carry their water.

Second, from all reports I have seen and heard, Miller is a gentleman whereas McCain has a record as a self-righteous, rude, arrogant loudmouth and showboat whose primary political mission over the past few years has been to silence the voices of dissent so that only the propaganda of his liberal buddies will be heard.

Your position is quite understandable.

I live in a town with many military retirees, including ex-pows.  I happen to know an ex-Vietnam pow who spent several years in the Hanoi Hilton.  He (I think understandably), doesn't like to talk about the subject.

I would not presumed to say anthing negative about his conduct as a pow.

I do note that many McCain supporters who use his ex-pow status as a shield against his poltical actions have not been similiarly inclined for others such as Admirals Stockwell or Denton.

If you are interested in the subject, I suggest you read Denton's book, When Hell Was In Session..
