This could be the first election where a majority of Republicans voted for the Dem, and a majority of Dems voted for the Republican. Tongue

Yup, it would take me all of 2 seconds to make my decision, I'd vote McCain.  Zell Miller is a moron and an embarrassment to the party.

McCain in a heartbeat....

However it is sad to see how Zell has changed since the good old days of 1992 election friendly chats with James Carville and speeches to the Dem Conventions (in 92 was it or 88?)... ahh memories

Zell Miller has not changed. That's a fact. He has always been a conservative. He is more pro-life than most Republicans, and he is fiscally moderate. He has always belonged in the Republican Party. He used to be a moderate, then the Democratic Party became a socialist organization

Hey Kodratos- what's up with the Australian political parties in your signature? Are you from Down Under or do you just admire the way they do things down there?

No, I'm not from Australia, but I love it, and want to move there. That's all.

I'd vote McCain.

Result of McCain vs. Miller scenario

Miller:

Georgia
South Carolina
North Carolina
Virginia
Alabama
Mississippi
Louisiana
Arkansas
Missouri
Tennessee
Kentucky
Indiana
Texas
Oklahoma

I'm not sure about Kansas, Nebraska, Dakotas, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and Montana.

Or most democratic states like Massachusetts, Rhone Island, New York.

What you think?

here's my prediction:

yes, DC would actually be a tossup. How bizarre. The question is if blacks would follow party loyalty in this case.

in a miller-mccain matchup, ralph nader would have a field day.  he would probably get over 10% of the vote.

funny, Boss Tweed's map is identical to the 1928 map. However, I doubt Massachusetts and Rhode Island would vote for Zell Miller, since he bashes the Democrats more than Republicans and almost all Democrats outside the south hate him. I can see them going to Nader, but not Miller.

I should also change my map with Utah. Most of the Republicans there are single issue pro-life voters, and since McCain is pro-life they would be willing to vote for him. Virginia is very tough to call, since conservative Democrats are pretty scarce there now. I'd still rank it a toss-up, but going narrowly going to McCain instead.

Miller would be the first Democrat  that I've ever voted for president.   But then again,  if McCain wins so do the Democrats.

It was tough, but I couldn;t vote for McCain. I vote for a Republican if they support the Regan Revolution, and I don't think McCain will.

Yes, he should be considered a Democrat.  Just a conservative southern Democrat.

I would consider someone like John Breaux or Rep. Lincoln Davis a conservative southern Democrat. They at least vote with their party on some issues and don't bash it and call it out of the mainstream, endorse Republicans, and act like total assholes in general. Zell votes with the Republicans as much as Trent Lott does, and trashes anyone who dares to criticize Bush.

NJ puts miller 35 points to the left of Trent Lott.

American Conservative Union gives a 2003 rating of 75 to Miller.  McCain has 75 as well, Lott has 89, Specter has 65, Ted Kennedy has a 10, and strangely Lieberman has a 0.

All rhetoric aside, I believe that these men are very similar.

Gun Control- same

Abortion rights-same

Most Taxes- same.

That's a hard choice for me.  I would probably not vote, so I wouldn't blame myself for helping elect either of them.

I'd vote for Miller.

I'm from Arizona and am ashamed that I once voted for McCain.

McCain is rude, arrogant and dishonest.

Liberals like McCain because he is more than willing to do their dirty work.
