Personally I like Donnie Fowler, he seems to have the right idea about devolving authority to local parties and forming the Democratic message with broad values rather than rigid dogma… I like guy, he’s fairly young but that should not be an obstacle. The only candidate I defiantly do not want is Dean, not only is he damaged goods, but I worry about his past distain for Moderate democrats such as myself and how he would win their/our trust as DNC Chair.

The other candidates are Tim Roemer a conservative Democrat from Indiana (my second choice), Simon Rosenberg a stalwart of the New Democratic Network,  Former Michigan Governor Jim Blanchard, Former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk and Harold Ickes a former Clinton aid… not all of them have or indeed will enter the race, but all are though to be likely to enter the race and have been looking into the possibility, aside from Dean and Fowler, Rosenberg is the only other candidate to have declared.

Dean is brilliant at fund-raising and it would ensure he isn't running again.

Martin Frost. Why is he not on the list? A Texas Jewish moderate.

Dean is an awesome fundraiser, so that automatically makes him the best candidate in my opinion.

I voted for Dean, but I'm not entirely sure I want him to lead our party..  I think it is a neccessity that we don't abandone our prinicpals and base just to win elections.  On the other hand, it would be nice to win an election every once and a while.

Howard Dean, because unlike the other candidates he can inspire voters.

He can inspire voters. I totally agree. However, I don't think the Dems would be happy with how these newly inspired voters would vote.  Smiley

As long as he makes no more "I have a scream" speeches Dean would make the best DNC Chair

Frost and Roemer are both DINOs.
We should have another poll, which of the following Democrats do you support for the Democratic National Commitee chair:

Donnie Fowler
Howard Dean
Jim Blanchard
Ron Kirk
Harold Ickes
Simon Rosenberg

Dean, of course.
Howard Dean is a political genius.  He can do so much good for the party.
I know many people that have stated that they would leave the party if Roemer got the nom.  I would definitely not pick him.

So he's not a good candidate. But he was a great executive as governor, and is an excellent fundraiser. And since anyone who's actually bothered to look at his record can tell you he's not a far leftist, he wouldn't turn the Democrats into Communists or whatever and thus mean they can't win any elections.
