USA Today is reporting that former Speaker Newt Gingrich is mulling over a presidential bid in 2008:

I kinda think so.  He has a huge amount of negative baggage.

Gingrich would do well among conservatives, especially running against someone like Giuliani. In fact, against a moderate he would win pretty easily. The general election would obviously be a lot different. A Democrat like Bayh would slaughter him, but against a liberal it would be neck and neck. Gingrich vs. Hillary? THAT'S a polarizing election!

He's being critical of the conduct of the war.  I'm not sure that he would be the favorite of the right in 2008.

In Clinton's 2nd therm, when people were talking about Nominees for 2000, Was George W Bush being talked about early on?
