You have to buy a car. You have two choices. A Toyota, costing $15K and a Ford with $20K. Both are exactly the same. Money is no problem, since Bill Gates is financing you Smiley. Which do you choose?

Toyota. Don't give me that bull about them being the same - my dad was a mechanic, and he hated Ford engines.

All other things being equal, I'd buy the Toyota.  I think they're a better car.

I would buy whichever is the better car for the price. Blind brand loyalty is for people who are deathly afraid of numbers.

Toyota is more reliable. I've had good luck with them.

I prefer to buy American if the quality of the two is comparable, but Toyotas are usually quite a bit better than Fords, especially in reliability. And at least Toyotas are manufactured in the United States now.

You're missing the point. I mean, would you buy Ford to support American workers or Toyota because of the price?

Well, once they're manufactured in the US, they're no longer going to be more reliable.

That said, I always drive American cars - hand-me-down Cadillacs, Buicks, Lincolns, etc. from the parents.  America did once make reliable larger cars.

American made trucks are the best vehicle made in the US, hands down.

Toyota probably.  Ultra reliable, and no union shops at their plants.  I try to avoid supporting union shops.
