I thought I might as well post it:

"WASHINGTON — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Wednesday that he's "not concerned about the very poor" because they have an "ample safety net" and he's focused instead on relieving the suffering of middle-class people hit hard by the bad economy."

Well, obviously. He makes fun of poor people in every single speech. He loves to laugh at other people's low incomes.

Mitt Romney, unfortunately, is a walking ad machine for the Democratic Party.

At the end of the day, the bottom 25% of Americans are deadweight.  It's true. The very poor will always have nothing and be leaches to taxpaying Americans.  That's not news

Larry Ellison and Oprah Winfrey disagree with your assessment.

Seriously, is there anyone who can claim this man have a touch and any understanding of the people with worse financial situation than himself? Oh, and that would be like 95% of all Americans (yes, I may be generous in this estimation).

For over sixty years, Mitt Romney lived under a jar and he simply have no idea about the real people and the real life. So, can anyone seriously expect he can do something for the people? It's not like Romney have no heart, he just have no clue and it's probably worst.

One can't really claim that Obama has lived a life any more "typical" than the Mittster...

Of course. After all, Obama's father was a powerful Governor, presidential hopeful and millionaire too.

And this is exactly why he will lose. His chances are vastly overrated.

Nope, just stating facts.

And another fact is that Obama's early life is even less similar to Middle America than Romney's.

A mid level cabinet official. Not a millionaire, not a presidential candidate.

Growing up in a single mother home, then living with his grandmother? Sure, he might have been interracial and lived in Indonesia for a stint, but it's hardly comparable to Romney's life of privilege. However even Romney endured hardship while a missionary in France.

In any case this will only be a gaffe if independent voters can be bothered to care about the poor, for the poor won't be voting for him anyway. Indeed, the context might be the worse thing: he's not saying he doesn't care about the poor, but that the safety net will take care of them.

I feel like that last bit is far more contentious than the main remark.

You know, there's a difference between having early life not similar to Middle America than being out-of-touch kid living under a glass jar.

When you're in the bottom 25%, you don't have a job, no home, probably no education and no marketable skills.  Hell, many college graduates are finding that their education went to waste because they cannot find a job.  Thus, if you have no skills and no $$$ (and yes, $$$ unfortunately is still waht it takes to move up and find a place), what's te answer?  Either America helps you, or you're beyond screwed.  Some people miraculously get of deep poverty, but most are there for the long haul unfortunately.

In countries like Kenya, all the mid-level cabinet officials are presidential hopefuls, as well as millionaires.

And you know that how?

Love wormy's attempt at rendering Obama fully 'Other' here.

If I hadn't read Ron Paul's newsletters I'd be surprised at such language from libertariantown.

This is why Mitt Romney is a terrible candidate.

He is completely tone deaf,  the Dems are trying to paint you as out of touch and a 1% and you give them this whopper?
