According to a poll conducted by Watchdog.org, Lamontange leads fellow Republican Kevin Smith 41 -10 percent among GOP voters likely to vote in this week’s First in the Nation Presidential Primary, with 16 percent supporting some other candidate, and 33 percent not sure.
In the Democratic primary, former State Sen. Maggie Hassan leads former State Sen. Jackie Cilley 21-15 percent, with 17 percent backing some other candidate and 47 percent not sure.
Lamontagne, Smith, and Hassan have each announced their plans to run for Governor, while Cilley is still exploring a run. Potential candidates have until June’s Filing Period to get on the September primary ballot.
The telephone survey of 865 likely GOP primary voters was conducted earlier this month by Pulse Opinion Research LLC, an independent public opinion research firm that used automated polling methodology and procedures licensed from Rasmussen Reports LLC. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, with a 95 percent level of confidence. The Democratic survey of 386 likely Democratic primary voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
