He was shown around there in New Hampshire and ended up getting less then 1%

PPP, Insider Advantage, Rasmussen, Marist, and ARG all showing Newt leading (or with Marist, gaining by a lot).

I think we can say that this is real (at least until tonight when Newt's 2nd wife talks about stuff).

You have it all wrong. The only way Romney can get votes is if he looks inevitable, and trailing in SC doesn't make him look inevitable.
