I translate this as you like people when they agree with you but find them abhorrent when they don't.

I'm a bit particular when it comes to valid argumentation and I think people who have had no training in logic or argumentation sometimes gets a bit thrown off by that. I've also realized that I'm taken seriously quite often when I'm not.

Speaking of political opinions, one of my flatmates wants to throw a party where the theme is offensiveness. I'd be happy to take suggestions on the issue (this was inspired by a particular party-killing conversation we had this weekend in Riga, so child porn and Hitler will likely be included).

Indeed. I actually met a very nice Asian girl yesterday. Opebo would probably have disliked her having a personality and such things but otherwise I think she would have been just his type.

Like many sexist men Opebo seem to routinely mistake opposition to sexism with opposition to sex. It is a bit pitiful.

No, Gustaf, you as always misunderstand.  I'm not sexist at all.  One prefers sex with prostitutes because of its wonderful characteristics, not because there is any dearth of the other kind of sex, nor because of any particular opinion about women in general.

Your assumption that I like or dislike women based on any particular criteria is baseless nonsense, Gustaf - nothing more than a kind of bigoted fantasy of yours.  I've many close female friends here, from PhDs to ordinary small business women, and I get along great with them, hanging out several times per week.  In addition of course I keep in touch with several friends of this type back in the States.  All my favorite female friends have very strong, intelligent, and opinionated personalities, and in most cases are very funny), and I enjoy debates and discussions with them in precisely the same fashion and equally as much as with my male friends.  I most definitely do not prefer the 'submissive', silly, or stereotypically deferring type of women that I think you imagine. 

Liking prostitution has nothing whatever to do with disliking or disrespecting women or with not getting along with them.  It is simply a great service.

This actually brings up that my big issue with Gustaf is that he takes such a holier than thou attitude toward opebo and prostitution moreso than most people who disagree with opebo and even dislike him. I'm sure there's tons of others who disapprove of opebo's activities but aren't similar in that sense, for example Keystone Phil and even jmfcst aren't as holier than thou. He's also spoke of me like I was one of the worst people in the world for going to strip clubs (I haven't in quite awhile and when I did it was mostly to visit individual girls there, but not really the point.)

In response to BRTD's post above, I'd say that Gustaf provides an important (one I more or less agree with, FWIW) alternative viewpoint to the general 'progressive' view around here on the sex industry, showing that it doesn't necessarily make one a Falwell-admiring nutcase to think that prostitution and strip clubs aren't inherently wonderful things that should be applauded.

My issue isn't that he believes that but that he is so self-righteous about it. I don't like tobacco and cigarettes but I don't act that way toward people who use it. I've even let people smoke in my car before.
