Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist, Charismatic, Other Evangelical (Evangelical Free Church in America) and emergent. I think that is it. I almost went to an Assembly of God once but decided not to the week before once I figured out they were Assembly of God (I figured they had to be somewhat progressive because they met in a coffee shop in Uptown but it turns out they were a group from that ultra-conservative AoG university near downtown)

You can count United Church of Canada and Uniting Church in Australia as Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational or even all three.

Counting just being in the church building I can add Pentecostal (believe it or not there is a fundamentalist Pentecostal church here that allows hardcore shows to be booked inside it*), Restorationist (I vote at a Disciples of Christ church) and Congregational. To my knowledge at least.

*Then again maybe it isn't so ironic since a hardcore show actually has quite a few similarities to a Pentecostal church service. Wink

So assuming patrick voted he's never been to a Protestant church ever? I actually find that surprising.

No, I voted for Anglican/Episcopalian.  I went to a wedding up in Massachusetts. Now that I think about it, it was probably congregationalist.  Other than that Ive been inside a couple Protestant houses of worship for like tourist visits.  It is nothing personal or anything, due to demography, where I went to school, etc I really only have Catholic and Jewish friends.  Further, I barely go to my own church.

Ah, I missed that. I suppose that makes sense, my family is Lutheran/Catholic/Baptist, my late uncle was a convert to and an Evangelical Free Church minister so I obviously went to his funeral two years ago but I know my family saw him preach at least once. Charismatic and emergent were on my own.

I think I might be able to add Episcopalian since my mom claims she had been to every church in Ft. Yates, ND at least once (there's not very many) and upon looking it up there is a small* Episcopalian church there, but if so I was a baby.

*and by small I mean the size of most houses in my neighborhood based on Google Maps. If it ever holds more than say 30 people it has to be pretty cramped.

I've been to a couple of dual Hindu-Catholic wedding ceremonies before. Those are vaguely interesting. I grew up in a super religious town so I've also done those "lock-ins" or whatever they have at churches (don't really recall which specific denominations though)

I've been to a Bahai-Catholic wedding, but it wasn't at a church or anything. It was a bit bizzare.

That needs an explanation.

I actually want to go to one once mainly out of curiosity but also because I love the whole charismatic thing. The main reason I haven't is because I have a feeling they'd act very creepy and cult-like to someone they hadn't seen before.

Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, Lutheran, UCC, and SDA.

I've been to a Baptist church, but I don't think that counted, 'cause all I ended up doing there was watching The Princess Bride. Don't ask why.

Any speaking in tongues or were you just freaked by the hand-raising and swaying stuff?

Catholic, Anglican (officially, in practice more a mish-mash for all Christians in Riyadh), Orthodox (Greek Orthodox, in Jordan). I think that's all. Can't recall going to any Protestant church in Canada.

Orthodox Jewish: In Israel there is a billion of these everywhere, and this is the only sort I went to many times during services since my parents dragged me there as a kid.

Reform Jewish: went to one during a school event.

Catholic: visited as a tourist.

I'm guessing you weren't going to shows then because that stuff is pretty mild compared to what goes on at a punk show. That's probably the main reason I'm not freaked out by my church, though at first I somewhat was at first but the people spontaneously dropping to their knees in the aisles and the crying outbursts girls often have, but I'm desensitized now. I still think it looks funny when people have their hands straight up and jump around or spin like they're a raver tripping on something, but that's not a bad thing.

Sunni Muslim. I've also been to a Hindu wedding and to Presbyterian and Conservative Jewish places of worship, although both were for non-religious reasons (baseball practice and a school event, respectively). I've been in several Catholic churches, but I don't think any of them were still in use.
