The 1987 stock market crash and the Iran Contra hearings strike a more decisive blow to the Reagan White House in this TL. Incumbent VP George HW Bush is defeated by Kansas Senate Minority Leader Bob Dole in the primaries and nominates White House Chief of Staff and fromer Senate Majority leader Howard Baker as his running mate. Colorado Senator Gary Hart landslides his way to the front of the Dem ticket (who's Donna Rice?) and picks Delaware Senator Joe Biden as his running mate.
