Supposed to get 10-15 inches here tomorrow. There is also concern about power outages due to the leaves and such. Sigh.

It snowed for a few hours here in DC, but it wasn't cold enough to stick.

It has snowed now for six hours in Connecticut, and we have three or four inches of snow on the ground. There is a strong wind, and the weight of the snow is beginning to tear some limbs off of trees. And amidst all this I think, We are closer in time to summer than to winter.

inb4 Fox calls this proof that there's no global warming

Like all religions, both sides will trot out their "credentials" and there will be much hand waving to explain this isolated weather event.

Fox News will use it as proof that there is no global warming and will call anybody who "believes in global warming" "sheeple".  The alarmists will explain hastily that this was anticipated in the models and that global warming means *more* cold and snow, not less!  Why?  Because it's all horribly complex and you wouldn't understand it if we tried to explain so just take our word for it!

Seriously.  Every single time an event like this happens, you will see Wattsupwiththat.com put out a lengthy post detailing how having snow so heavy and so early clearly proves that we don't know what we're talking about regarding climate.

Then Climate Progress, via Joe Romm, will spit out some BS about how "obv weather isn't climate except when it supports our global warming theory" and how while this event might just be natural, EVERYTHING IS GOING TO GET WORSER AND WORSER BECAUSE THEY CREATED A MODEL TO TELL THEM IT WOULD.  Oh, and it's worse than we thought!"  It's always f**king "worse than we thought".  And they'll definitely throw in some ad hom attacks about "Deniers" and the "Anti-Science crowd" and the "contrarians"... and how I'm obviously funded by big oil or I am a Kochsucker because I won't eat their bullsh**t.  Whatever.  Smiley

Hmmm.. it could be our turn next.  Three models are in agreement for a storm to cut from Tex/Ok. panhandles up to Lake Superior.  It would pull lots of cold air in from Canada and warm, moist air from the gulf giving us a classic "panhandle hook" storm.

I'm ready for snow.

Snowstorms in october? That far south? In the plains?

You should just evacuate that blighted continent and leave it to the Indians whom God created it for.

Snowguy, do you think there will be a lot of icing events in Tennessee this year? That's what worries me the most. I can drive on snow, have experience doing so, but ice freaks me out. I guess because I have no experience with it. It either snows or rains in the mountains of California.

32 hours without power and counting. Two telephone poles down the street have fallen over. This does not bode well.

Most of my trees have suffered severe damage. It is only by the grace of God that my house, car, and sheds are undamaged.

Hurricane Irene had nothing on this storm.

My house hasn't had power since Saturday night. Not sure when it's going to come back. Finally fled to a friend's house. My area was completely decimated. Tress and lines down everywhere. Also got about 20 inches of snow.

Public school was cancelled for at least two days in my hometown. My father was told not to come to work because of dangerous conditions in transit and because the power was out at his workplace - the first time in thirty years that this has happened to him. And he works across the street from Bradley International Airport.

I'm from The Bronx but I live in Dutchess county currently (which was basically Ground Zero for this thing).
