I should warn you, Libertarians populate the forum, so expect plenty of Negative votes.

I'll think about the question for a while.

Best president of the 20th Cenury, except pehaps for LBJ. (But LBJ has the whole Vietnam failure on his plate, so...)

The best President of the 20th century, easily (though he certainly had his flaws).

He led America through not one, but two major crises. And he won four large victories in Presidential elections, especially 1936.

Most Americans at the time loved and respected him. It's really been only the relatively recent advent of right-wing revisionist "history" that he's been considered a bad President (and only by those with a vested interest in attacking "big government" *ahem*...)

Love the man, but he isn't Jesus. Still the best president in history.

No.  Top 10?  Yes.

My opinion of FDR is that he was a strong leader, and the right leader during WWII.  He certainly had the ability to captivate the country and world, and thus deserves high praise for it.  I can't say policy is 100%, nor can I say what he did directly ended the Great Depression as some would believe. However, all in all, FDR's good qualities far outweighed is short-comings, and he was the man needed for such times.  FF.

As a matter of fact, back in his day, he WAS Jesus. (At least in strong Democrat parts of the country) Seriously, tons of people had pictures of him in what little of a house they had!

Ok, I'm strangling between Good and Great (The Japanese Genocide and the Court Packing Scheme are what make me question his greatness.)

Lincoln was just as good a President as FDR.

Hey, my favorite two Presidents-one from each of the two modern parties!

And what's more-Libertarians hate them both, so they must be great!

Though not without his flaws, one of our best Presidents and greatest leaders. Tied for "my favorite President" with the other Roosevelt.

FF, of course.

I love how like some people (and it's hilarious who) are saying FDR will get a bad score because *gasp* this forum is lurking with libertarians.

I mean talk about deluded.

Then again, as we can see with evangelicals it is usually members of the majority who like to purport to not being the majority.

Think I'm wrong?  Check back on this thread in five days times and see how many pro-FDR posts there are compared to anti-FDR posts in this thread (in regards to Franklin Roosevelt).

And even at that a lot of those anti-FDR posts are almost as likely to be conservative posters as they are libertarians.

Oh really?

Or are you just worried that the little FDR idolators will have their little New Dealer hearts hurt once they see the comparison to christian fundamentalists?

Because I'm not.

Yeah because voting results after only three hours are clearly indicative of this forum's demographics as a whole..........

Also, last time I checked the poll results 60% of this forum believes FDR was either "good" or "great".  You wanna know what 60% also correlates with?

Oh yeah, that's right........

Oh how hatefully libertarian this forum is if FDR does almost as well on here as he did IRL!!!!

OMFGosh!!!!!!

No.  I was talking about the part where you got a little off tangent.  It went from funny, to overboard.

A little off tangent maybe.

But I still stand by it because it's a very valid comparison.

Whenever a thread like this comes up Atlasian leftists love to make it about how an evil libertarian monstrosity that inhabits most of the forum will skew the results.  Kind of like how fundamentalists like to claim that a very small elite cabal of atheist baby eating f*****s are taking over American society.

My opinion exactly. FDR is, was, and always will be, my favorite President. I disagreed with his Court plan (He simply could've pressured them to retire) and the Japanese internment was a bad thing no matter how you look at it.

But still, a great President.
