Did I miss something? Why is Abercrombie so unpopular?

"Neil Abercrombie has assumed the dubious distinction of 'most unpopular Governor in the country' in PPP's polling.  Only 30% of voters now approve of him to 56% disapproving. That represents a 33 point decline in his net approval since March, when PPP found him at 48/41."

Because it's preppy and overpriced. Would not recommend.

This article seems to sum it up pretty nicely.

Only 30% of voters now approve of him to 56% disapproving.

Sidenote here: It annoys me when even pollsters themselves get confused on the "job approval" / "favorability" distinction.  They should have written that 30% of voters approve of the job he's doing as governor, not "approve of him".  "Approve of him" makes my eyes bleed.

it appears he has had a rough go of it in certain respects.  these two articles do a decent job of explication.

Remember when Abercrombie admitted that it was almost literally his mission as Governor to prove that Obama was born in Hawaii? Ok, well, now that that's done and he realized that he might actually have to govern...

The last time PPP polled WA was in May. Gregoire was at 38/48. Not good, but better than I'd expect.

That article suggests it was to do with fiscal conservatism.

Even though I know nothing about the event, my guess is he's almost certainly right. Sporting events are always touted as being great investments, but they inevitably aren't.

Since Abercrombie is now the least popular Governor in the country, will Hawaii be in play in the Presidential race, guys? People are clearly very angry and might want to take out that anger on the President at the ballot box. You know, like how they are apparently so angry at Rick Scott in Florida that they won't vote for a Republican for President. Same in Ohio and Wisconsin.

See how stupid theories lead to even more ridiculous thoughts?

While I think that theory is overblown, it's not totally implausible that it might make a tiny difference, which could be enough in swing states but won't matter in safe states like Hawaii. (Incidentally, Obama's polling numbers in HI are way down from 2008 (though still comfortably up).

Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida are already competitive states where things like that might be able to have more of an impact.

Considering that gubernatorial races are far more non-partisan than presidential politics, no way.

Also, a recent poll has Obama leading basically 2:1 against any republican in HI.

My post was sarcastic/mocking other clowns that buy into this ridiculous theory that people will vote against Party A's nominee for President because their state's unpopular Governor is from Party A, too.
