Hey, is it really that crazy? I mean, if Herman Cain can do it...

In all seriousness, that would be pretty gratifying if he was able to get a month or even a few weeks as the new top guy as we get closer to the primaries. I'm not holding my breath but with the way things are working, it seems like most will get a chance at the plate as the Non-Romney.

He actually comes off as fairly reasonable at times, well at least, in comparison to everyone else. (Yeah, it doesn't mean that much in perspective, but in another way, it really does)

If you want a guy to be flavor of the month, the best time for him to take up that role is in late December/January. If it's Gingrich's turn after Cain then Santorum would be the next in line...

Of course not. That's how epic fail Santorum is.

Must be depressing for you that Herman Cain's seen as more qualified than Rick Santorum to be President.

Possibly, Phil.  He's very smart, and from what I've seen an excellent debate man, but he has loads of ideological baggage.  The problem for him is that the subset of junkies who follow the debates are also that subset who have been reading news stories for long enough to know Santorum.

Given the recent Cain misstatements on where he stands on abortion I'd say that gives Santorum who has solid social conservative credentials an opening

the problem with Santorum is that he treated the Senate of the United States as if he were trolling the Atlas Forum...much like Bachmann does in the House.  So even though I agree with Santorum on the vast majority of issues, I can't vote for the guy to be the nominee.

Santorum is next months flavor, if Newt isnt. I think Santorum is the Brownback of 2012.

Too many Evangelical nutcases that hate gays as much as Santorum does in the GOP field for him to become flavor of the month among the foaming at the mouth hange mongers in the base of the party.

Santorum is too reasonable, actually, to be a flavor of the month. Neither he nor Gingrich fit the mold of Bachmann, Perry and Cain.

I hope so, but it's hard for me to see it happening. For some reason, Santorum just hasn't caught on with conservatives the way you'd think he might. Part of it is that he hasn't gotten any media coverage other than the deal about his name, and part of it is that he's more willing to compromise than the other candidates, or at least to say that he would.

It didn't connect for a minute, but after seeing that 3rd option can't...stop...laughing. Bravo Phil. But I don't think Santorum will have a limelight moment without some kind of shift to SoCon issues. I can't really recall any notable statements from him on the economy. Just focus on SoCon issues and foreign policy debates with Paul. This just isn't his year.

Almost anything is possible, but I doubt it. If he was going to catch on, he probably would have caught on by now.
