I'm curious to see the list of sins tallied against me by this board.  I am sure it will include sleeping with my wife, being an integrated member of society, and living a facultative carnivorous lifestyle.

Jmfcst, but not because of his version of Christian theology, but rather because I think he actually takes his beliefs seriously.

I think we have to leave these sort of judgments to the lion.  If I had to hazard a guess I would say that jmfcst must be pretty old and tough, and after all the bile of all that hatred, resentment, and frustrated sexuality must give the flesh a bad flavour.

Haha, I noticed Opebo posted in this thread and before even opening it I just knew he would talk about the lion.

why not because of my version of Christian theology?  you've certainly shown that you agree with my interpretation of scripture

The human spirit needs something to rely upon, sbane, and I am happy I could fulfill this role.  However I did more than just talk about the lion - I deferred to the lion.

opebo, you are a poor materialist. There is no such thing as the human spirit. You know this to be true.

I'm sure you know I was being facetious (and I really thought it was a rather funny little joke), but I would not go so far as to say I am a 'materialist'.

dude, I have you beat by a mile and a half, if not light years!  I knew, before opebo even posted, that opebo would be posting in this thread.  And I knew, before he posted, that when he did post he would mention a lion, which is why I mentioned me “living a facultative carnivorous lifestyle” in order to contrast myself with the lion’s obligate carnivorous lifestyle.

In fact, I was so certain he would post in order to mention a lion, I looked up the traits of a lion beforehand, so I could preemptively make a witty distinction between myself and the lion.

…and I did it all for the love of opebo – he is such the predictable putz.

And I was being facetious in my response to your facetiousness, which is what preempted my facetious response.

It is curious that you do not identify with materialism, opebo. Surely you should know that it is a large part of the basis of Marxist philosophy, which of course is the single most powerful anti-capitalist philosophy in "modern" history!

Let's see, BRTD professes Christianity while really believing in opebal infallibility and leading a life of sin.

Yea, I think I'll go with jmfcst.

Judging solely from on-forum behavior, BRTD.

Uhm, Historical Materialism is not the same as Metaphysical Materialism. Marx was an adept of Hegel. Hegel is probably as idealist as it gets.

As are you, old thing.  The fact is, this entire thread pretty much wrote itself, but hat's off to you for planting the seed.  Or wait, who posted this thread?

However, let me critique your prescience by asking.. why would you want to distinguish yourself from the lion?  Exigency would dictate that you distinguish yourself from BRTD - 'oh, now, mean ole' lion, I'm old and tough, and full 'o bile - now look at BRTD over there: young, plump, fresh, cheerful, and dripping with the milk of human kindness.  Yummy!'.

Pretty much. jmf seems to ignore Christ's teachings all the time.

Officepark is a kind of guy who'd vote for Ted Bundy just to vote against BRTD or opebo.

The key word is interpretation - it's not like we can just ask the authors to clarify, seeing as they're dead and all. And it's not like we agree entirely. And it really isn't my job to go about saying who is and who isn't a Christian. But at the end of the day you've taken the time to read the Bible, probably multiple times by now, which shows that you take your beliefs seriously - whatever other disagreements I have with you I can at least respect that much.

Ah, thanks for all the votes people. Smiley Though this isn't the sort of thing I'd care about or concern myself, and doing so goes against the whole nature of Christianity (in fact obsessing over being a "better Christian" than another person would probably be a sin.)

Let's see, BRTD professes Christianity while really believing in opebal infallibility

LOL. No I do not believe opebo is in any way infallible.

We all lead a life of sin. Jesus is the only person ever who did not.
