A group of Senators is trying to take away your right to elect representatives and have them appointed undemocratically by political party bosses!

Tell them no way in this thread and on the Government board.

Who is trying that? Where?  I could not find it, but will keep looking.  I would be against dissolving elections, as what would be the point of the game. Is that what they are trying to do?

EDIT -- I found what you were talking about and I believe that is not a correct interpretation of what Bgwah is trying to accomplish.  There was a problem with the current system and he is trying to fix it.  I actually think his remedy is very fair to smaller parties that may develop and find a hard time trying to compete against two bigger parties.  Quite frankly, it wasn't bossism, it was statesmanship.

I actually agree with bgwah's proposal as well. Describing it as us trying to undemocratically elect representatives is rather simplistic, but I am sure that is your aim. Ultimately if we adopted a proposal where we have a special election, it would overwhelmingly benefit the bigger parties and crush any voice minority parties would have.

Agreed, a decent idea.

Why should we let major parties appoint random "stooge" Senators?  Last time we appointed someone, who was it?  I can't seem to remember as he isn't with us very often Tongue

was there a Constitutional amendment allowing for this? if not, I don't even see how FL 40-8 is constitutional, let alone this.

I would support something like a runoff between the next two highest ranking candidates.

The truth can be simple. We vote for candidates in this game, not parties.

I'm pretty much opponent of Senate appointments in general.

Can't believe I'm about to say this, but Napoleon is absolutely right. That amendment is cuh-razy. Didn't Bgwah just recently pass a Constitutional Amendment allowing regions to fill their vacancies by special election? And now he wants to change at-large vacancies to appointments?

I really really hope that amendment is stopped.

If this awful amendment is passed, we have to do everything to prevent it's ratification by regions.

It isn't a constitutional amendment.

Really it was my idea, and bgwah wasn't the most enthusiastic about it though he voted in favor.

It's a shame to see one of our best former Senators rudely dismissing one of our best current Senators. Sad

You know I always assumed Antonio really didn't want me to become a Senator. I tried to work closely with Antonio when I was first elected but eventually he started making these sort of petty attacks all the time. It is really a shame.

Very libertasque statement from Antonio, who, ironically, accused Napoleon of being "new Libertas".

At least tell us you got something more than "LOL Napoleon" Antonio!

I'd at least expect that from you.
