I'll support this.  If there's not further debate by tomorrow, it'll be brought to a vote.

Sounds very scientific, but looks promising. I'll support this.

I had checked the old Clean Up The Great Lakes Act, but this isn't covered nor would it make any sense to amend the previous bill, so this Bill makes sense.

You wouldn't be able to clean up the Great Lakes like this at all. It needs to be employed on a smaller scale, specifically for phosphate problems. I identified the Grand Lake St. Mary's since that's the obvious problem, but there may be other small inland lakes where this makes sense. It's a niche solution that can't easily be scaled up.

It's as simple as digging a hole, having water flow into it and out of it slowly, stirring it, and removing the algae. That's the point: it's pretty much as simple a treatment plan as it gets.

Plus maybe in ten years, the algae might be worth something as a biofuel.

I had meant that the Great Lakes Bill could be amended and extended to cover St Mary's and other inland lakes and include this sort of treatment as it has 15 years of funding locked in. However that would dilute (pun not intended!) the Great Lakes bill and sometimes targeted bills of this nature are more appropriate.

Debate having ended, this is now brought to a vote.  Members will vote AYE, NAY, or ABSTAIN.  This will be a 48 hour vote.

Voting is now closed.  The AYEs are 5, and the NAYs are 0.  The AYEs have it and the bill is passed.  The bill is now passed onto the Governor for his signature or veto.
