I find it depressing that it's needed, but it seems to make sense. Though I don't see the harm in just getting rid of dual-office holding for cabinet officials altogether.

If the aim is to find people to fill cabinet positions, you might consider allowing them to be held by people with regional positions (perhaps except for Governor). It seems these cabinet positions are too involved to ask people to serve more than one of them.

I am actually on the opposite side of this argument, I think if any officeholder can serve simultaneously as a Cabinet official, it should be a Senator. That would effectively create a hybrid system that could be very effective while allowing regions to have regional governments separate and it could open the possibility for expanded executive opportunity and a new style of politics. That being said we once again reach problems with the Game Moderator Reform Act, which I have yet to see do anything remotely useful.

I'd, however, like to propose an amendment in ny never-ending quest to make the Vice Presidency somehow relevant.

Cabinet Flexibility Amendment
1) Article V, Section 1, Clause 1 of the Third Constitution shall be amended to read "No person may simultaneously hold two or more offices of the Republic of Atlasia at any level of the government. An exception shall be made for members of the President's cabinet, who may serve multiple cabinet posts, but not in addition to any other office. The Vice President shall also be allowed to serve cabinet post

@ Napoleon

As a person who in RL lives under parliamentary system, where Deputies and Senators can are are frequently serving in cabinet, I see no problem with such a solution

I oppose the hybridisation concept, but support this idea in principle.

These cabinet positions are usually cushy jobs, full of heavy drinking and prostituting, and Ben is the only person that stands out in my mind that actually gives a damn, well he and Marokai when he was GM, but he resigned. I have been a long time opponent of trying to hybridize the government, i.e. making the VP position some glorified job and the like, but I do support the principle behind this amendment.

If I may intercede for a moment.  I do hope someone makes sure the VP can't serve as GM, as well as fix the English in that current amendment.  The lack of "in a cabinet post." is killing me Tongue

Yeah, this would be a ridiculous conflict of interest. Though, I dislike the idea of the VP serving in a cabinet post altogether. Why not just abolish the Vice Presidency if you guys think that lowly of it?

I don't understand the obsession with trying to give the VP things to do. The VP is traditionally a do-nothing position and he can participate in leading the senate or wait until the President cannot serve. We have seen VPs act as president several times. I am totally opposed to making it into a cabinet position because that simple is not the job of the VP.
