Yes, it's really really bad now. It's only marginally better than South Park. In fact one could argue that The Simpsons as a whole is a bad show because it has been bad for longer than it was good.

It has declined over the years, especially after the movie, but I still think it's better than a lot of the sh*t that Adult Swim runs.

I've not seen many Simpsons episodes made over the past decade or so, so I can't really comment so much on what it's like now, but given what American TV is like in general... I can't imagine that it could be one of the worst things, even if it is as now terrible as everyone on the internets says.

Nah, I mean it's not a very good show anymore, but nowhere near the bottom. It's probably one of the best shows on Fox, actually.

Of course not.  It's still one of the best on television.

Dude, have you even seen the alternatives?

It's meh now, but it's gotten a little better than it was around 2005-2006, and compared to everything on MTV, Bravo, E! (except the Soup, love McHale), most of ABC, Nickelodeon (has fallen since its heyday in the 90s-early 2000s), etc, it's probably one of the top 5% of current shows on television.

It would have to somehow be worse than Seth McFarlane's crap to earn that title, and it isn't even close.

No. It's not as good as it used to be for sure, but it's not even close to one of the worst shows.

I don't like the show anymore but it's still far better than all of the reality TV trash. I'd never argue that it was a bad show overall either just because it was so absolutely incredible in its heyday that it essentially makes up for years of mediocrity.

No. Overall it's a great show, although visibly declined and should be canceled, because creators have no idea how to continue this.

But there are worse TV shows than recent Simpsons seasons.

I mean seriously, if you vote "yes" on this you either have an axe to grind or ....no, that's really the only explanation.

It reminds me of Dude Fest 2009 when I was discussing Weeds with another guy and he said it was a terrible show. I responded that it wasn't and was weak now but the first seasons were great and he said "Well let's say you had a friend who used to be very good looking but was then in some type of accident and covered in burn marks now, you wouldn't argue he was handsome and attractive now because of what he used to look like?" and I kind of conceded it. I'll just say to this point that the best thing to do is just pretend The Simpsons never made it out of the 20th century in order to enjoy it.

But surely you have a concept of time? Small children don't (of course) but the rest of us do.

You are a sucker for bad analogies, eh:)  A better analogy is that the Simpsons was like a young man with a puppy. In your younger days you played catch and both had a bunch of energy.  Those were great times with your pup. New to both of you.  However, The dog got older, you got married and had kids and your priorities shifted.  Your old dog is arthritic now but you still look back fondly at your shared halcyon days. Every once in a whole the old dog surprises you and shows a burst of speed when playing catch.  But alas you both know you can't keep it up...

Insert wife/girlfriend for dog and it works for misogyny and The Simpsons.

What I find more depressing is that there are people who are old enough to legally drink who are younger than this show.
