Fascism is any radical authoritarian nationalistic type thing. This can go along with a socialistic or communistic economic system, but it can also go without.

Socialism is where the economy is controlled by the state. This doesn't necessarily lead to a classless society, as is intended with communism (below).

Communism aims for the creation of a totally classless society by any means necessary.

If those were my choices, I'd be a Communist I guess.

Though I would hate to be any of them.

One thing I've read is that Fascists argued for a "Third Way" between Socialism and Capitalism. Which actually sounds interesting.

I changed my username in response to a rather inane thread in the What-If forum. The exact wording of my username may or may not have been, er, "inspired" by yours Wink

A Third Way between socialism and communism implies that you must be a bit more radical than Blair and Clinton. Wouldn't you think so?

Thought The Third Way was between CAPITALISM and SOCIALISM. I don't agree with unfettered Capitalism nor do I agree with full, true Socialism. Both have good aspects, but either of one of them unfettered isn't good.

You cannot compare what Blair accomplished in Britain to what Clinton "accomplished" in the U.S. Much of Blair's "third-way" changes in the Labour Party was entirely overblown by the  left (Clause IV wasn't really that big of a deal in the scope of things, regardless of which version you prefer). He put more money in the NHS, as well as investing much money in the poor and in education. The same cannot be said of Clinton. Blair "appears" like Clinton because both of them had (had in Blair's case) appeal in the suburbs.

Fascism was one of several Third Way ideologies in the first half of the 20th century. That doesn't mean it was between socialism and capitalism - it was opposed to both.   Being nationalistic, it was anti-Left and anti-individualist in both economic and social policy.
Some Third Way positions such as Distributism were non-nationalist but still opposed to socialism and capitalism.
The "Third Way" of Clinton (and Blair, rhetorically) is, in contrast, nonradical and tried to combine a liberal social safety net with capital-friendly economic policies, as a middle way between the center-right and the center-left.

Uhm, I always sorta assumed the 'Third way' referred (or more correctly: could also be seen as a reference to) to:

1. Classical Socialism/Orthodox Marxism
2. Revisionism/20th Century Social-Democracy
3. Blair's brand of Social-Democracy

It certainly was used in that way by certain opinion-makers over here.
