Realized as the weather's started to get colder that I had an urge to listen to my Mormon Tabernacle Choir collection of Christmas Carols and wondered if it was too early.

The day after Thanksgiving.

With that said, listen to whatever you want.

The BushOk legacy lives on....

I typically only listen to tunes the week of Christmas.

My family has always treated the beginning of Christmas season as the day of, or after, Thanksgiving.

It's never inappropriate to listen to Christmas music.  I have that Alvin and the Chipmunks one on CD and we listen to it frequently.  Even in July.  And I have a mix CD with a little Perry Como thrown in somewhere in the middle of Andrea Bocelli, Queen, Lynyrd Skynnyrd, Marvin Gaye, Olivia Newton John, Metallica, The Jackson Five, Gloria Gaynor, and Serge Gainsbourg.

My answer should be obvious.  All year round.  I normally start listening in August, but this year I started listening in July just because it was so darn hot and dry, I needed something to make it seem a little cooler.

The next thread should ask when is it appropriate to start decorating for Christmas?  The answer to that question for me is between October 1 and December 1.  I am putting mine up this year next Saturday, October 15.  I will refrain though from putting my yard decorations out until probably Saturday, November 12.  I think it would look weird for my neighbor's lawn to be decorated for Halloween and mine be decorated for Christmas.

I even have a friend who is trying to talk her husband into putting theirs up the first week of November, so I'm not alone in my love for Christmas at this time of year!  She didn't get to have a tree last year due to giving birth to her firstborn just before Thanksgiving, so they were consumed with getting off to a good start all during the end of November and all of December.  They weren't really focused on Christmas last year as they were on the baby.

Me?  Never.
Other people?  I don't care.
Stores and such?  I suppose I can compromise and say "December"

I still don't know which holiday is dumber, Christmas or Columbus Day.

Never celebrated Christmas. In Uruguay its secular name is Day of the Family.

Hmm.. I guess you could probably start any time in November.  Retail stores put out the big Christmas stuff on November 1st.  The overnight workers who reset the seasonal sections at places like Target dread Halloween for that reason... it's the largest turnaround of the year.

I'd say after Thanksgiving is the most appropriate answer.. or December 1st for those of you living in places where you don't give thanks.

Never. Hearing Christmas carols in every store is easily my least favorite thing about the month of December.

Eh, it depends on the carol.  I love Angels We Have Heard on High, Good King Wencelas, Ding Dong Merrily On High, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Adeste Fidelis, and some others.  I can't stand...pretty much anything about Santa Claus or snow.

It turns out, I will be putting up my Christmas Tree for 2011 on Thursday, October 13, 2011.  I have a new work schedule 6:00 am-5:00 pm Saturday-Tuesday beginning this Saturday, October 8, 2011 with Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off.

No, I'm a populist. But I'm guessing the moderators on here are PC-leaning.

I know a former poster (who told me that he was infracted a lot on here - often for little reason). I've also been browsing this forum as a guest for several months.
