Which would the Jedi (Light Side of the Force) support? In terms of social issues, economic issues and foreign policy. Feel free to explain your response.

Whichever side I support, of course.

Given that the latest storyline in the "Fate" arc has involved a Jedi military coup d'etat and a subtext about the need of the Jedi, as a clerical order, to divorce themselves completely from the political system (politics corrupting both them and they corrupting the government in turn), nothing I'd support.  (Info courtesy of some of my SA pals that keep up with the SWEU).

I don't know how they'd fit in overall, but I bet they'd be against the death penalty.

Obama could be Darth Vadar and the Rebels are the Tea Party? lol...

Seriously, I think the light side of the force are the Conservatives.

I honestly don't know because the light side is about peace and not executing, helping the poor, etc.

Then again, they have the jedi code which is basically the morality that dictates their life. I just don't know.

I'm guessing they are liberal, but they may be pro-life. Perhaps they are a lot like the Catholic church. (liberal on everything but sex)

Again, as a quasi-religious paramilitary order, their number 1 concern would be keeping independent from the political hierarchy.  The Jedi were doomed from the second they became generals in the Clone Wars as it destroyed their autonomy.  They're far more like a Crusader military order than anything in contemporary politics...their destruction actually is a pretty clear reference to Phillip the Fair's crushing of the Knights Templar.

I wouldn't even be surprised if people on here would be analyzing the Extended Universe.

Jedi have, by our standards, strange views on sex. They are fine with it, but don't believe in attachments, so getting married isn't allowed, iirc.
