I knew the Eagles were going to be bad. They had the same exact problems the Cowboys had last year: scrub safeties and middle linebackers. The rest of the team is fine, but the middle of the field is no contest for even the worst NFL offenses.

Pretty much puts the final nail in the Eagles coffin.

Who do you think the Eagles will be looking at in the draft?  What is their biggest need, do you think?

Forget about the damn draft. This is a coaching issue.

I agree with you there.  I guess like Terry Francona in Boston, a coach who went from World Series champions to losing his team's focus, is what Andy Reid is experiencing right now.  Reid had the Eagles on a nice playoff run for several years and even brought them to the Super Bowl a few years ago, but I guess he has lost this team.  Teams go through that.

Andy Reid IS a good coach, and a good offensive talent evaluator.  That said, this team, from top to bottom is broken, and Reid refuses to acknowledge that his scheme is flawed.  He and his cohorts need to go.  He may very well, and probably will continue to have success elsewhere...good for him...nothing against him personally...the press conferences and hubris are annoying...but shrug.

This team needed to clear house years ago...now it just smells of rot.

What we, as Eagles fans, essentially have heard for the more than a decade...

Question about the NFL:

Does anyone know why the NFL does not have promoted teams or relegated teams after each season like in football leagues ?

It seems the NFL consists of all the same teams each year. Any reason for that ?

The Eagles need to finally find their replacements for Trotter and Dawkins if they want to have a good team again.  Their defense has no leadership.  Their offense is just fine.

Why is Dawkins no longer with the Eagles, anyway? It seems like he's providing solid leadership in Denver.

Andy Reid is a good coach, much like Jeff Fisher, but he had his best days with Jim Johnson as his DC. I suspect Reid is finished after this season.

If Reid gets canned, will Bill Cowher opt for Philadelphia or Miami?

Yeah, it reminds me of Tom Coughlin. Remember how good his Jaguar teams were the first few seasons? Then he lost them somewhere along the line and ended up getting canned. But he bounced back with the Giants. I am sure Andy Reid will land somewhere, too. He may never get that Super Bowl ring like Coughlin, though.

For some reason the method you describe never caught on here.  Personally I love that sytem and wish every league did it that way and every city of any size had frranchises in all the important sports.  It would make things interesting.

I think Reid will be a good fit for the Rams.  And I think a Bill Cower led Eagles team would be a good one year in and out

What a jackass. The NFL needs to make an example out of this criminality by finally handing out a lifetime ban. I know I will take some flak for this, but I am still upset they allowed Michael Vick back into the league. He is an exciting player, but I love dogs too much to ever forgive him for what he did.

this actually proved to be untrue, and besides, I should have said 'CBS'.  watching the Jets on my nineteen inch HD now.  nice to see Cincy down by two scored but Tennessee and Denver are leading Sad
