1960(W), 1964(W), 1980(W), 1984(W), 1988(W), 1992(L), 2000(W), 2004(W)…2012(?)

Texas is currently 7-1 (counting 1988 as a victory because the winning ticket headlined a Texan while the losing ticket had a Texan in the VP slot)

To put a different spin on this:

Texans who won competitive GOP primaries: George W. Bush ('00), George H.W. Bush ('88) [2]
Texans who lost competitive GOP primaries: Ron Paul ('08), Phil Gramm ('96), George H.W. Bush ('80), John Connally ('80) [4]

Texans who lost competitive GOP primaries: Ron Paul ('08)

oddly, I didnt realize until last week that Ron Paul represented parts of Houston/Galveston...always figured him to represent a part of East Texas or some vacant prairie in the panhandle.

Bush lost the PV by quite a bit, no way Perry gets away with that.

Each one of those tickets had a sane Texan on it. Rick Perry isn't sane.

John Nance Garner.

Interesting for such a Texas patriot to not remember about legendary "Cactus Jack".

Despite the fact that it's been pointed out that he represents the Gulf Coast numerous times?

Eisenhower was born in Texas. Again, Garner was too.

Native Texas are 6-0.
