So?

Its between Option 3 and 5 for me.

I guess one could say 6, but that more ethnic than racial.

Depends on what continent Russia is supposed to be in, I guess.

The Middle East is certainly not the most racist of the options. Except for the whole Israel vs. Arabs thing, I can't see what credentials they should have in this competition.

I don't know whether this poll makes much sense, anyway.

Just to play devils advocate here and play along with this thread... The gulf states tend not to treat their South Asia and Filipino worker drones very good.  Further, a lot of Mideast states treat Africans quite poorly and there is still racial/ethnic based slavery in handful.

Lol. This is why I don't take White liberals seriously.

Well lets see here...

Filipinos/South Asians in the Gulf.

Blacks in the Arab World (especially the racially motivated attacks on Africans in Libya). To most Arabs they are Abeed.

Arabs in Iran. Persians vs Arabs.

Please don't call me a White Liberal, I'm not going around calling you a self-hating Pakistani either. okay? Wink

And remember that they are up against Russian/Eastern European neo-nazi's and the ethno-genocidal bits of Africa,  which are all quite heavy stuff.

Also, I didn't think of the Gulf, as I still tend to automatically equate the 'Middle East' with the westermost half of that entity.

This poll is obviously pretty useless since it doesn't take into account differences within countries.

That being said I would say Asia(Especially East Asia) is the most racist continent at the moment.

Japan is quite xenophobic especially towards other Asian groups like Chinese and Koreans, has an overly restrictive and prohibitive immigration/citizenship policy. Hasn't apologized for pre-WWII colonialism and atrocities in countries like China. From what I understand it's still pretty much fine and social/legally acceptable to discriminate against someone based on their ethnic origins in Japan.

Korea-Attitudes and behavior quite hostile towards non-natives, for example I was reading about how a person of Arab descent visiting the country was spit on and attacked on a train due to this background. Additionally I've heard of pretty serious acts of discrimination in Korea against blacks and others also in the country, both officially and non-officially. North Korea frequently employs racial/ethnic undertones to it's propaganda and rhetoric.

PRC-See Korea, intolerance and de facto ethnic cleansing aimed at non-Han Chinese.

India-See Caste System,  intolerance(sometimes with violence) by conservative Hindus towards non-Hindus like Muslims/Sikhs.

I've read and heard of a few other examples also.

In China you can purchase products colored in "n Black" and children are taught in schools (when studying foreign countries) that black people are lazy, stupid criminals while white people are intelligent and hard-working.  Japanese people still largely see themselves as the master race, and they allow almost no immigration lest their blood be tainted.  Many people in India, Pakistan, and within Central Asia are pretty much genocidal to other tribes/religions, as is also the case in Southeast Asia, and Russia of course isn't all that nice either.  So, obviously, Asia.

First of all the caste system isn't racism, it's classism. But if we are talking about general bigotry then you have a good point.

Also Sikhs vote for the conservative Hindus (BJP and the Akali Dal which is a BJP ally), so you are hilariously wrong there. Don't forget what party Indira Gandhi was in and how much of a dirty socialist she was. I know you don't know any better but seriously...

India and Pakistan as well have seen less violence and genocide than Europe has in it's past. Just sayin'.

And anyways when did religious bigotry (be it Hindu vs Muslim or Shia vs Sunni) become racism?

I voted for the Middle east, of course. Europe is a contender too.

I've always thought there was considerable tensions between Hindus and Sikhs.

So I'm wrong, it's not like Indian politics/ethnic relations is particularly easy to comprehend anyways.

You are right, Indian politics is hard to understand. I'm not tripping that you were wrong, but something had to be said! Sikhs form the BJP base vote in Delhi after all....

Not surprising considering what the Congress party did to them in Delhi...

Weird poll is weird.

On the more interesting (I guess) aspect of things in the thread, there's at least one Labour councillor in London who's a member of one of the Akali Dal groups.

I don't know if I would call the Akali Dal left wing or right wing. They are just the Sikh political party and that is the party they vote for in Punjab. In Delhi they aren't really viable, thus the Sikhs vote for the BJP.

Eastern Europe is the most racist I've really encountered. But I don't think Europe overall can still compete with the less developed continents.

Asia hands down. What %age of countries in each continent can you move to if you come from any random ethnicity? Clue: it's lowest in asia.

Definitely not Australia. Probably not South or North America either. If you include the Middle East in Asia, it wins; otherwise Africa. Everyone hates eachother in Africa.

Australians, at least the majority of those I've spoken to, are terribly racist; or at minimum, enjoy racist jokes far more than people from other developed countries.
