video

Not a Paul supporter, but those are some pretty disgusting clips they were able to find for that piece.

If Ron Paul and lets say Chuck Hagel as his running mate were to somehow win the presidency, I am convinced the headlines Wednesday morning would read "CHUCK HAGEL WINS VICE PRESIDENCY!"

I like Paul, always have, and the media's disregard for him is pretty atrocious, BUT he's not going to win the nomination, and everyone knows it. Saying that the top tier is Bachmann, Perry, and Romney isn't a slight against Paul, it's just a fact. Even if the media gave him his due like the other candidates he wouldn't win the nomination.

I applaud Stewart for bringing this up though.

I'm just glad people who are not Paul supporters share in disgust on how this campaign is treated.

If Paul were given Perry or Bachmann coverage his polling numbers would have been completely different.

"Ideologically consistent"...until he has to endorse his buddy Don Young in his 2008 primary battle against a sane, non-pork barreler.

He won a straw poll. Wow! Breaking news - Ron Paul fanatics flood a straw poll. Wake the kids!

The smirk and the eye roll? He's a moderator. He looks at the TV and smiles. And he didn't even roll his eyes.

Ron Paul doesn't talk in talking points? Ok. Yeah. Right.

See, this sort of thing is how I can simultaneously be a conservative Republican and a loyal Jon Stewart fan, something people who know me well often don't understand.

Stewart is a Democrat, sure, but he's trustworthy. His jokes are politically neutral. If Fox News does something stupid, he makes fun of Fox News. If MSNBC does, MSNBC is the butt of the jokes that night. Likewise with CNN or any other channel.

I just want to applaud Stewart for being a better journalist than the folks in the spin zones at Fox and MSNBC.

No doubt.

I never realized Ron Paul gets ignored like that.  This is some of Stewart's greatest work.  If Ron Paul would just let go of some of his kookier ideas like abolishing the Federal Reserve and going back on the gold standard I could see voting for him.  At least the guy has ideas.  That's not something I can say about ANYBODY else that is running in either party.

That CNN anchor is a prick (pardon my language).

Everybody knows Bachmann isn't going to win the nomination.

Everybody knew Huckabee wasn't going to win the nomination.

Can't blame this on expectations.

Bachmann has a much better shot than Paul, surely you'd admit that?

And I disagree about Huckabee. After SC nobody thought he was going to win, but after IA it was certainly a possibility that he'd be nominated. Not to mention he came in second place...

I agree.  The CNN anchor begging for a Palin quote and dissing Ron Paul proves its not about how likely someone is to win the nomination.  Palin isn't even in the race for crying out loud and probably will never enter it.

The problem with the media is they are lazy.  They would rather kick around a stupid Bachmann gaffe than actually match wits with Paul.  Some of Paul's ideas are out there but some of them are spot on.  He talks about the elephant in the room.  Instead of having a conversation with someone who actually has real ideas cable anchors want to chase Palin's stupid bus around.

If I was an anchor I would have Paul on my show all the time.

If Bachmann got as much media attention as Paul, she'd be behind Cain.  Paul isn't considered a serious candidate because the media isn't considering him a serious candidate.  Maybe the voters will reject if we hear a lot about him.  But, really, we don't know for sure.

You can't even say that, even with the difference in media attention. The professional polling, the Ames result, and the other straw polls say they are neck and neck with each other.

Because everyone who is going to vote for Paul is already saying they're going to vote for him. There's fluidity amongst the other candidates....

Yes, you can protest private things, and still want private companies.

If I was an anchor I would have Paul on my show all the time.

And your show would soon be canceled.  Even if all the Paulians watched, I doubt they would be all that valuable to advertisers.

That isn't bias. Bias would be claiming that Ron Paul has a shot at winning a majority of votes at the convention because he has a solid, dedicated support base despite having little appeal outside it. He's like a less racist Jean Marie Le Pen.
