Would the mega rich themselves saying that higher taxes doesn't affect growth change the tea party's obstinance, or is that just wishful thinking?

Of course not. I don't know what the Tea Party works for, but the "patriotic millionaires" have done this before, to no avail.

Funny. People fighting to have their taxes raised.

Funny thing ... when you become insanely wealthy it seems you sometimes reach a moment of clarity.  Andrew Carnegie famously wrote an essay on wealth wherein he said that it was the moral responsibility of the wealthy to engage in philanthropy.

Apparently Buffett and Bill Gates are familiar with the essay and have said it is part of what inspired their "Giving Pledge" campaign.
