Asperger's isn't necessarily a disability so much as a disorder. It of course makes one a bit weaker with their social skills, but one effect is that they become much more passionate about certain things. This, of course, can be a massive boost.

Personally speaking, I could never see myself running for any office, because my social awkwardness would make it hard for me to appear natural and do everything a politician is supposed to do at the age of TV and internets. However I could easily see an Asperger managing to overcome such difficulties.
