StatesRights' wife still posts/lurks on occassion, but it might just be him using her account.

There's plenty of women interested in politics. However, there are few interested in election results and analysis.

...most of the posters on this board always have had zero females...course, the number of males they have had is another story altogether.

And the number of fantasies you've had about posters having males is a third story of an even more voluminous nature.

As for the Gentleman's Club atmosphere, let us relish it, not decry it!

It's a shame BeccaM doesn't post any more.  The pictures she posted of herself showed her to be super smokin' hot.

The fact that the pictures weren't of her and that she was actually a dude are irrelevant.

If I was female, I wouldn't want to be around all you creepsters, either.

What Brother Hugh said.  Her being an idiot and her being a lady were not necessarily correlated.

However, I have noticed a correlation between people who post in this forum and people who are idiots.

I look forward to the day when posting on a forum about politics is no longer a -- mostly -- exclusively male activity.  However, I'm not confident I will live to see that day.

TG wasn't really any smarter than DC, considering she was well into adulthood and all. But she's a woman and an old timer, which makes her automatically cool in the eyes of most members, I guess. Tongue

Would this be a good time to point out that I'm genderqueer?

If I have to give an extended definition then it's probably not the best time, but what's done is done.

I know some girls who might be interested in a forum like this, but they're more interested in activism than psephology. But then, that's true of most of the people I know who are interested in politics in general. They also tend to be lesbians. But then, that's true of most of the people I know in general.

The gays on this forum are significantly creepier than we straights.

I have a dream that one day children are judged not by the shape of their genitals but by the content of their posts. Tongue

The function of this forum is not, as I understand it, to be a "gentleman's club," it's primarily to discuss politics and public policy.  Granted we have boards and threads devoted to lots of other things, but politics is our primary game here, no?  In line with that, I think that women have very important things to say about both policies and politics that are very unlikely to be said by men, and furthermore are ones that men need to hear and consider far more than they are inclined to do.  So, I'd sure like to have more women post here.

Democtratic Underground has tons of females on their site and yet it tough to find one that active post here. What is the beef with females and political sites? Some forums have tons of females and then the number shrinks on other forums such as this and Free Republic.

Sure she can be an idiot. However, let's not act surprised that half of the female membership disappears when they are insulted.

I'll just add that I think those that are truly concerned about not having female members care for creepy reasons.

"creepy" is often just a word used to shame men for normal sexual desires.

Normal for this forum isn't exactly normal anywhere else.

I don't see how young mens' desire for females is abnormal, even on this forum. Just because some here may be nerdier than average, does not make their desires unnatural. Obviously they just need to look somewhere else. Like the royal wedding magazines section.

It's because most political sites have tons of insecure idiot males on them.

There is also a negative correlation between the number of females and the number of Tea Partiers, Libertarians, etc. present, from my observations.

That's why a site like Democratic Underground has a lot of female posters and sites like Free Republic have few.

DU has tons of idiot people on the fourm, doesn't stop them gaining female members.

Read my edit. A lot of it has to do with the ideology of the site's posters.

Also, let's face it, political/election analysis is very nerdy stuff. People who obsess over this stuff tend to be male. Tongue
