Bolivian Americans Democratic Party
Brazilian Americans Democratic Party
Chilean Americans Toss Up
Colombian Americans Republican Party
Costa Rican Americans Democratic Party
Cuban Americans Republican Party
Dominican Americans Democratic Party
Ecuadorian Americans Democratic Party
Guatemalan Americans Democratic Party
Honduran Americans Democratic Party
Mexican Americans Democratic Party
Nicaraguan Americans Democratic Party
Panamanian Americans Democratic Party
Paraguayan Americans Democratic Party
Peruvian Americans Democratic Party
Portuguese Americans Leans Democratic Party
Puerto Rican Americans Democratic Party
Salvadorean Americans Democratic Party
Spanish Americans Toss Up/Leans Democratic Party
Uruguayan Americans Democratic Party
Venezuelan Americans Republican Party

Spanish Americans Toss Up/Leans Democratic Party

If you're referring to Spanish as in people from Spain, I'd have to guess lean republican instead of lean democrat. At least with my family, I'm spanish, and other spanish families Ive met seem to vote more with republicans and are more likely to assimilate than other hispanic groups.

In my opinion Spanish people are more like non-hispanic white voters than hispanic ones, but that's just what I've witnessed from my family.

You're probably right. I was thinking that since New Mexico is the state with the highest percentage of Americans that identify as Spanish, and is usually a state that is a toss up or leans democratic, that it would have been a good indicator of how Spanish Americans vote in other states.

are you spanish, ajc?? Good to know it Wink. However, I think Spanish in america lean democratic. lots of socialdemocrats went to the USA... and a majority of conservative people (PP voters) who went to the USA would vote Democrat, I guess. There are probably lots of blue dogs from Spain.

A lot of Spanish-Americans, at least those in NM have been in the United States since the colonial era (New Spain) and thus have basically no links with contemporary Spain or Spanish politics. Those people are heavily Democratic, forming the core of the NM Democratic machine iirc.

Quite so. Very much 'bring out your dead' territory come election time.

Yeah, "Spanish" on North New Mexico (and South Colorado) census records is shorthand for "what do you mean... 'what kind of Hispanic ancestry'?"

Wouldn't Chileans tend to be people who fled from Pinochet and thus be strongly left-wing? At least that's the case in Sweden.

I am under the impression that Nicaraguan Americans are pretty Pubbie friendly.

Not that we don't still tend to vote Republican, but Cubans have been trending Democratic more recently, especially with the olds dying off.

Might have to do with communism not being strong aspect in the Cuban community and the olds dying off who supported the anti-communism policy of Reagan and hated JFK, though JFK was also a anti-communist.
