So racism is okay as long as corporations do it?

As I've said, libertarianism simply allows corporations to become the state.

Next time, when terrorists shoot everyone first, guns will be so useful!

Who is more likely to blow a plane? The Omani exchange student, or the 95 year old grandma from Indiana? Even if the Muslim in question is a loyal American, and even a military vetran, I rather see him be questioned then the Old White lady. Even though he will found perfectly innocent, we must remember Malik Nadal Hassan. It just makes more sense to do it this way.

By allowing guns on planes, you open up terrorism to a wider range of unorganized lunatics who would have never acted on their impulses before that point.  I'm sure the random dude who shoots 2-3 people at a mini-mall in a rampage would love the idea that he could hijack a plane with ease in this cruel world instead.

Allowing flight attendants to carry pepper spray or have a stun gun in the cockpit would be equally effective.

Also, against bombers I doubt the threat of shooting them would have much effect on their plans.

But bombs blowing up hidden in a terrorist bum is alot better right? Anyway, I think it would be best to let the airline companies decide what is allowed on flight. Giving pilots guns, at least, should be allowed. Same with pepper spray and tasers.

Pilots, sure, but the rest, no.

The next time nineteen old ladies or cripples in wheelchairs hijack planes and kill 3000+ people, let me know, K?  Thx.

Civil liberties issues aside, I happen to think that racial profiling is rather pointless after an awful lot of Islamist terrorists in my country had in fact been converts (Eric Breininger, members of the Sauerland group...).

You would have to profile for White males between the ages 18 and 30 too. Which of course would include me as well. So, better not.

None on planes and all in the middle east, but wouldn't racial profiling have picked them up here?

The shoe bomber was taken down with an injection of a tranquilizer.

I was unaware that there were guns that could, in a single clip, kill several hundred people.

Wasn't on a plane.

So, as long as female suicide bombers limit their attacks to subway stations, they shouldn't be screened for at airports?

One would-be bomber, an Arab, cultivated an Irish Catholic girlfriend and sneaked a bomb onto her luggage. Profiling would have never caught her.

In 1956, John Graham smuggled a bomb into his mother's suitcase so that he could collect insurance proceeds from a specialty policy for the lives of airline passengers. The bomb exploded with a great loss of life. Racial, religious,  or ethnic profiling would have never caught his mother -- who would have never set foot on the airliner or allowed her luggage onto the flight if she had known.

It is conceivable that someone would smuggle a bomb onto an airplane after being told that the 'stuff' being transported is 'only' illegal drugs or illicit cash.

Just think: many things that an airliner isn't supposed to carry, like weapons, explosives, and drugs can be detected. Sniffer dogs have caught explosives, drugs, and illicit cash -- and have probably deterred some attempts to smuggle deadly or illicit stuff onto jetliners.  Metal detectors can catch metal in suspect forms. Sure, I could use a saxophone, let alone a vase, as a weapon... but that would only be in desperation, as in a 9/11 scenario.

Between getting groped and/or cancer-rayed at the airport and then caught in a gunfight inside a sealed, compressed container flying at 30,000 feet, I think I'll just drive.
