If everyone knew what all the candidate's platforms were, the Libertarian would win in a landslide.

If it was in a realistic setting, however, the Republican would probably win, given how many people think communism is Satan and given how few people have any clue who the Libertarians are.

Libertarian/Libertarian.

If the Libertarian was gone, Communist/Communist. Facism is worse than Communist. They both aren't so hot.

I think that describes many elections.

Libertarian/Libertarian.

If not, then it depends on what kind of Fascist the fascist is, and what kind of Communist the communist is. If it's Mussolini V. Pol Pot, i'd hold my nose and vote Mussolini. If it's Hitler V. Tito, I'd hold my nose and vote Tito.

Of course, in comparison to either, just about every US politician is preferable....

Hmm, an unfree society with fascism, an unfree society with communism, or freedom.

I don't see how anyone can select one of the first two.

I am a progressive. Communism isn't progress.

In Communist circles, especially in NYC and elsewhere from the 1930s onward, "progressive" was the official codeword for Communist.

Whenever someone talked in public about so-and-so being a "progressive", everyone "in the know" knew what they really meant.

Because I know about this, anytime someone mentions the word "progressive" a little bell just goes off in my head over that.  Smiley

FDR would be the communist not the fascist.

I chose Libertarian/Fascist. Gabu's logic seems to be the best so far. Everyone is scared of communism, and they have no clue what a libertarian is.

Communism has a much better reputation than fascism, at least here in the Northeast.  Fascism (while, of course, being absolutely horrid) gets a worse reputation than it deserves because of Hitler--and, since, of course, there can only be one big evil bad guy per century, Stalin gets off scot free.  So the communist might actually have a shot in NY, southern New England, and California--especially with the splitting of the social conservatives' votes between the libs and the fascists.

So here's my prediction:

Stalin:  136

Benito:  140

[Some Great Libertarian of the Past]:  262

It really is hard to say with this...it's really a Libertarian v. Fascist race, and I really can't say who'd win in each state...and, remember, if it's really even between the two the communist may win.

I have really no clue what Texas would do.

Texas would probably go Libertarian - both the fascist and the communist would try to take their guns. Wink

Aslaska, Wyoming and Montana would go libertarian. Neberaska 3 would too. Also, South Dakota would go fascist, but North Dakota would go libertarian. So would Texas and Vermont(remember vermont and Alaska are the only states that do not require a permit to carry concealed handguns).

I agree about Alaska, Wyoming and Montana, but would say the Dakotas are correct as they are. SD is fairly libertarian, here it's known for lax drug laws and lack of regulations on alcohol sales. Rapid City, the most right wing population center in the state, is still a hotbed of gambling and casinos. ND might go libertarian too though.

Communist/Fascist

seriously, the Republican fascist would win, because people enough people hate social progressives.  I can imagine people in the South turning out in DROVES to vote for the fascist.

Well, if the recently completed election is any indication - and I think it is - you're absolutely right!

Cripes! What sort of scenario is this? Heck, voting for any of those options would be tantamount to supping ale with Beelzebub, Lucifer and Satan

Since I lean heavily towards order and equality over freedom (i.e. populist), I'd say communist Democrat
