I skipped the VP work bill because it might need to be transformed into an Amendment and this slot 5 can't be used for Amendments.

I don't see how this is funny. Duke introduced this bill shortly after the passing of his pet, who suffered from cancer. I also had a dog back when I was little who died of heart cancer.

I was not aware of that, obviously... I merely found it interesting that he was allocating funds to fight animal cancer, when some of that money would likely be used to fund animal testing. But I suppose those would be mostly mice, and a large majority of animal lovers generally only care about cats and dogs.

Yes, and our fuzzy friends, bgwah. I just lost my dog to cancer. It is a silent killer of both humans and animals, and the sooner we find a cure, the better. I think the cure will eventually be found in halls of our universities, and I want to give them the funds to continue their research. No one deserves to be given the news that their family, whether it be human or pet, has a disease with no cure.

I'll take that as a yes.

This bill is now at final vote, please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain.

I had every intention of voting for this. And was going to that is untill I saw the words "$50 billion". I have also lost a pet to cancer, but $50 billion in unfunded expenditures is too much.

Sorry, Duke. Sad

Sorry, I'm going to switch from "aye" to "nay".  I thought it said $50 million, not $50 billion.  Finding a cure for cancer should definately be a priority, but NC Yankee is right.  $50 billion dollars is pretty extreame.

Sorry Duke.

This could have been avoided if more people had actually read the bill and offered a compromise. Wink

Well we have had both extremes on this now. We had premature votes by senators elect and late votes by retired Senators. Tongue

Uh, wow, I second fuzzleton's post - admittedly skimming the bill, I too thought it was $50 million.

Switching my vote from Aye to Nay, sorry. My fault.

I should have questioned how we would come up with $50Billion but somehow I didn't expect people to care anything about cost.
