Impressive approvals. Goes to show that voters actually appreciate more a politician that sticks to his beliefs rather than someone who tries to please everybody (cough*Max Baucus*cough).

It seems to me that Ohio has an amazingly bipolar electorate.

All the Great Lakes states are like this. You can't be a moderate and win in the primary, but the states are evenly divided so either party's nominee could win.

I think that's America in general.

As per the comment about Republicans imploding in the Midwest, agree. The GOP talks about how bad government is, then they get elected and prove it.

Kenneth Blackwell is the least likely to be competetive towards Brown.

He's a Democrat.  If he were a Republican, it would be a sure sign that he was an incumbent who is on track to lose the general election.

It depends who the Republican is. If it's Blackwell, Brown will easily be re-elected. If it's Mandel, it is still up in the air because Ohio voters probably don't have an esablished opinion of him yet. I have no idea who Coughlin even is, so that makes me doubt he could be elected.

The fact that Brown is in the mid-40s does mean that his re-election is not a given.

I guess it would be as impressive as Carly Fiorina having a 49% approval in California?
