Name five Republicans who you think would be good nominees/Presidents for 2008.

Here's mine:

Richard Lugar
Chuck Hagel
John E. Sununu (he lived until a year ago in my town)
Lincoln Chafee
John McCain cerca spring of 2000

and the sixth Republican who I could potentially vote for is Michael Bloomberg

Colin Powell
Mitt Romney
Rudy Giuliani
Chuck Hagel
Tom Ridge

I'd say McCain being that a month or two ago he was my number one choice but with his age and condition I would count him out.

Hmmm....Republicans I could *possibly*support...
Well, Angus immediately comes to mind.
And Angus of course.
Not to forget Angus.
Apart from that...hmmm...two more to go...Angus maybe, tho I doubt he'd run.
And did I mention Angus?
That's five.
And I think those are the only five.

Wow...So far it's looking good for the Democrats in 2008. I really would rather have our list then yours.

Well, it only takes one good candidate to win an election...

Besides, I'm pretty sure that most of the names bandied about over there won't run...or they all will, and you'll have the most disastrous primary season since 1976.

But, yeah, I'm having problems coming up with five names I like...simply because there are very few electable economic conservatives out there.

Jeb Bush
Bill Owens
Sununu
McCain
and Zombie Strom.

Is this supposed to be a list of Republicans we like, or ones that we think will win?

For ones that could win (in no order):
McCain
Guliani
Owens
George Allen
Frist

For ones that I would like (again in no order):
George Allen (VA hasn't had a resident in office since 1845)
Eric Cantor (see above)
Jim Ryun (decent respectable (albeit not well known) congressman from Kansas)
Ron Paul (We would finally have a fiscally responsible president)
Anyone who can defeat Hillary Clinton

Sorry for the disclarity. The poll asks for you to name the candidates that you hope the party nominates.

Republicans I would probably vote for:

Guiliani
Powell
McCain
Frist? (depends on the Democratic ticket)

*shudder*

I hate Kyl. His arse belongs to the companies that are trying to make my family pay an extra $30000 a year for health.

If Kyl got his way, my family's medicine bill would skyrocket to about $35000 a year, becaus the heart medication my mum has to take so that she doesnt get another heart attack, plus the medicines that allow my dad mobility and therefore a job, would skyrocket if the Australian PBS was stripped back, as Kyl seems adamant on happenning.

There are not many politicians I have such a personal reason for dislike, but John Kyl is one of them. I *sincerly* hope he is never the leader of the free world.

Chuck Hagel

John McCain*

Rick Santorum

Bill Owens

George Allen

Bill Frist

George Pataki

They will all at least consider running, then again it possible that a "dark horse" we know nothing about could clinch it.

*McCain, i really don't know what he will do, some say he's ill and he will be very old so he may just rattle his saber, but where he to run without Bush in the running he could make a fight of it for the nomination and would be a big favourite against nearly any Dem.

Guliani may run, but I doubt a pro-gay rights, pro-choice, pro-gun control candidate is going to win the GOP primary
