A lot more "Liberal" than recent federal elections (especially this most recent one Wink )

PQ won 2 ridings in Outaouais in 1976, lost them both in 1981 and never won one after that.

Abitibi-Est (Abitibi-East)

So, what to say?

Yes, you saw right. Indian reservations heavilly voted for the PQ. The incumbent PQ MNA was half-Abenaki.

In Val-d'Or, roughly, more it is blue, more it is poor (with a big exception for the light blue precinct).

Rural areas and small towns are strongly for PQ, Liberals in urban areas, areas with many retirees or wealthy people.

If you have questions, feel free to ask, please.

Wow, the PQ won Hull by 2 votes in '76.

The two last maps covering Abitibi, my region.

Abitibi-Ouest

It was done for the sake of doing it since it is in my region, since it is pretty boring. Two liberal precincts in Macamic (the town where the liberal candidate was a municipal councillor in the past), one in Amos and the only one of the indian reservation of Pikogan.

Let's go to the most interesting riding, Rouyn-Noranda--Témiscamingue, which was a tight 3-way race.

Dark gray is a Liberal-ADQ tie. Light gray is a Liberal-PQ tie.
Many interesting things. Let's begin by ADQ (green), it easier for me. The candidate was a doctor in Ville-Marie. The area where Ville-Marie is is very clear on the map (hint: green). Good results in Témiscamingue, awful ones in Rouyn-Noranda.

There is a couple of indian reservations in the riding. They all voted strongly Liberal, with the exception of Winneway which voted for the ADQ (it is the green dot in the tied precinct).

There is a big Anglophone community in Témiscaming (it is on the Ontario border, 20 minutes away from North Bay), so, there is a big Liberal vote.

In Rouyn-Noranda, the suburbs voted PQ and the (former) city voted Liberal, roughly.

A note, which doesn't appear on the map, is Quebec Solidaire. That was one of their best ridings outside Montreal. They were pretty average in Témiscamingue, but they polled between 10 and 20% in most precincts of Rouyn-Noranda (urban and suburbs). Their candidate was a known architect from there.

From there, I'll be taking requests for maps in Quebec, Ontario and other provinces if possible. Don't be shy.

Ontario, eh? I started that thread, but no one responded to my map... I'd like Ottawa Centre and Ottawa South done Smiley

As for Temiscamingue, quite interesting. So, QS did well, but no polls eh? Sad And an Indian reserve voting ADQ is ridiculous.

1. Ottawa South? The riding of Dalton McGuinty?

2. Their best result was 20%, I think. Vote was very spread in the city of Rouyn-Noranda.

3. Well, for Winneway reservation, turnout was very very low (below 20%) and the ADQ candidate a doctor in the area.

Sorry, some delays. Allergies really hit hard. Ottawa South is done, it is on the same map than Ottawa Centre. It should be finished in a few days.

Liberals red, PCs blus, NDP red. Dark gray is a NDP-Lib tie, Light gray is a PC-Lib tie.
The system Ontario uses for numbering precincts is awful, too.

The bundary bewteen ridings is quite obvious to see, I think.

That's an awful lot of precincts.  How many voters does each one cover, more or less?

My polling station in the UK has about 3500 voters, although it is one of the largest in Bolton.

Wow. Thanks, MaxQue. That must've been a lot of work.

Now, and Ottawa Centre referendum map might be interesting. I don't know if they did poll by poll results of that though.

Depending of the province, but in Ontario, it is around 250 to 500, I think.

Hey Max, keep them coming. (if you'd like)

Might we have Thunder Bay-Atikokan? It was the closest race in 2007.

Thunder Bay-Atikokan, 2007.

In fact, the NDP won according to this map, but the Liberal came from behind with early votes.

Yes, Greens won a precinct. It is the precinct covering the Confederation College of Applied Arts and Technologies. I suppose it was the student's residences.

Sorry for the weird shape of the map.
