Is it illegal to solicit a vote delete, period, or only after the voting booth has closed? It sounds like two different crimes in clauses 1 and 2. Furthermore, I still think it would much more simple for us to amend the CCJA rather than create another crime bill. It's very difficult to keep track of all current laws in Atlasia when we have them separated so much...

I understand your point of amending the CJJA, but I disagree for following reasons:

1. We need to send a clear signal after last controversy
2. It would be much easier for legislative work to pass this bill, instead of wasting another weeks for converting it

Anyway, I offer one last amendment:

1. Deleting a vote in the federal election during a period between closing the booth and swearing-in of the new officeholders is hereby illegal, and is punishable up to a half of a year year 90 day ban from voting in any Atlasian elections and/or up to 90 day one year ban from holding any office under the Republic of Atlasia.
2. Soliciting another Atlasian to delete a vote during and after the vote is closed is hereby illegal as well, and is punishable up to one year 90 day ban from voting in any Atlasian elections and/or 90 day up one years ban from holding any office under the Republic of Atlasia.
3. The Secretary of Federal Elections, or a person acting on his behalf, shall be hereby required to save screenshots of the booth at the moment moment vote was closed.

I don't see why it would have to take weeks to convert it. And if it's so important, then that's all the reason to make sure we remember we passed it by putting it in the CCJA--something people are well aware of and check. I would consider the case of posting requirements... We often forget what they currently are, having been changed so many times, and someone will have to go dig for the latest law that is buried in some individual statute. I remember having to correct Franzl on this (he was counting several invalid votes), and I can't blame him for the slip up given how hidden the law was. I think amending the CCJA will ensure this law doesn't have a similar fate.

I still don't understand why soliciting someone to delete their vote during the election should be illegal, but I suppose I don't actually care about that part very much. Tongue

All right, how about this?

Fourth Amendment to the Consolidated Criminal Justice Act

1. Clause 8 is added to Section 1 of the Consolidated Criminal Justice Act: "The deletion of a ballot within an one month period after the voting booth has closed and voting concluded or soliticing to delete a ballot within an one month period after the voting booth has closed and voting concluded".
2. Section 2, Clause 2 of the Consolidated Criminal Justice Act is amended to read "For offenses described in Clauses 4, 5, 6, and 8 of Section 1

Amendment looks fine to me - obviously this is an issue that has some resonance with me given that weird lawsuit after the special election a couple of months ago. Tongue

why do you want to change it to a whole month afterwards?

Per earlier bgwah suggestion.

If now, we can go with this, as per earlier intent:

Fourth Amendment to the Consolidated Criminal Justice Act

1. Clause 8 is added to Section 1 of the Consolidated Criminal Justice Act: "The deletion of a ballot during a period between vote was closed and elected officeholders sworn-in or soliticing to delete a ballot during the same period".
2. Section 2, Clause 2 of the Consolidated Criminal Justice Act is amended to read "For offenses described in Clauses 4, 5, 6, and 8 of Section 1

Now, I propose this as my final amendment and we really should finish this one.

All other crimes in the CCJA are things that anyone can know is inappropriate. The issue of someone making an innocent mistake seems to still be here.   As long as the SoFE makes a screenshot of the vote at the close, I don't see why this is necessary.

Punishment provided by the CCJA are separate issue and should not be tied to this amendment, with which we should finish soon.

huh?

I wasn't making a statement about the punishment. I was saying someone who didn't know it was a crime might not know there is a problem with it. For the crimes already on the books this is not the case since they are either outright lies or against TOS.

Ah...

The Secretary of Federal Elections or a person acting on his behalf shall be required to add an information about this law at the top of a ballot thread
2. Section 2, Clause 2 of the Consolidated Criminal Justice Act is amended to read "For offenses described in Clauses 4, 5, 6, and 8 of Section 1

Thoughts on this modification?
