I'm researching how the Conservative Party was holding up its support level in the by-elections held in the year or so before the outbreak of WW2, and have found a nifty list of all the by-elections held, on wikipedia, but in most cases there isn't much information on how those seats voted in the 1935 election.  Is there a main database to look at for those results?

You could do worse than try the Vision of Britain website:

Indeed, just about to recommend that. I don't know about you, but I have trouble knowing how to navigate through the site - say to reach those 1935 results at constituency level.

Best/only way I've found is to Google, like so.

What you do is search for the name of the constituency you want using their search thingy.

I'm such an idiot. Embarrassed

I once came across a page which had the national results for each general election, but shown as Labour, Conservative, Liberal, Left & Right. The fact that all the minor parties from long distant elections had been sorted between left-wing and right-wing distinctions were, I thought, pretty memorable - shame I forgot how to get to it again.
