This must be the transition from the exploratory phase to full blown campaign mode.

Unless Paul had a few drinks in St. Louis before recklessly driving to and crashing in Des Moines.

He'd be a pretty good reckless driver if he managed to go from St. Louis to Des Moines.

I lived next to one of the Ron Paul crazies in the dorms at one point during the election (early 2008) and all he would do was shout "Ron Paul" all the time and irritate everyone and never really care what anyone else had to say, if Ron Paul said it then it was the word of God. I've gotten that from every Ron Paul supporter I know, God I'm not looking forward to that again. -_-

Yeah! Instead we can have Newt Gingrich and $700 billion dollar Medicare prescription drug coverage, or maybe we can have Mike Huckabee and smoking bans! So many good choices! Cheesy

Well we do need a prescription drug plan that's better for  medicare and most people I know support a smoking ban, as do I. Go smoke in private, or have a seperate smoking area instead of smoking your death sticks around the majority who doesn't want it. It was great last summer when the smoking bans at the bars went into effect, sweet clean air all the time!

Smoking ban, you say? I seriously hope Huckabee runs. He's the only Republican I'd even consider voting for.

Paul should use "The Change You Wanted" as a slogan, like Libertas had in his sig that one time.

Mike Huckabee tried a smoking ban? That's even more discouragement to vote for him.

Politico says that Paul will simply shift from a "testing the waters" committee to an "exploratory" committee:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0411/53687.html

"He will also announce his Iowa political team."

Because Americans are now even more pro-war, pro-government than they were in 2008.

Oh, wait

Isn't Gary Johnson running? What would be the point of them both running?

To make each other look good in debates. Presumably the one polling worse would drop out before the primaries.

Now get Rand in there as a Republican and have Ventura run as an Independent and TPTB would have to multiply their efforts to try and minimize the message of freedom!!

It'd be sweet to see Gravel/Richardson (D) vs. Ventura/? (I) vs. Paul/Johnson (R). Libertarian Libers vs. Libertarian Independent(s) vs. Libertarian Cosnervatives. Not that I'd like the outcome Tongue but it'd be a fun race to watch.
