Yes, we're back, and this time its personal!!

I've been concerned at the extent to which the left fractured in the last election, and continues to be in disarray in the post-mortem from that event. Many on the left share my concerns.

For this reason, myself and ILikeVerin have decided to form the Progressive Caucus, based very much on the values that the Progressive Party once stood for. We will fight for Social Justice and for a Progressive Social agenda.

We don't wish to replace the party system, because we feel the scenery is already flooded with parties, instead, we hope to be a forum in which the various parties can come together and put our differences aside to work in the best interest.

The Chairman of the Caucus will be ILikeVerin from now until we are able to hold a convention, most likely, in the New Year.

So whatever your party, you are welcome to join and hopefully together, we can make a difference. Please use this thread to join, to pass comment, and if you must, to throw rotten vegetables.

We used to have a Progressive Party back in the day, when Dunn was chairman.

I'll join, but I can still be a Democrat, right?

I agree Harry lost because the left was split.

Indeed you can.

For all Progressives, and anybody else really, I have re-established the Progressive Forums, which have been suitably redecorated to our new needs.

Mmmm... I've given this some thought and I don't think I'll join at this time.  While I certainly support the existance of such an organization, my hopes are to work with everyone, not just those who agree with me politically.  I fear that joining an organization whose goal is to promote purely leftist values would alienate those people I would like to be able to work with, even if I may agree with many of those values.

Its not a party, its a caucus; You don't have to leave the United Left, or any other political organisation that you might presently be a member of. Basically its a bit like the ACLU, except in support of progressive social values.

I will join the Progressive Caucus.  The broken pieces of the left must be put back together.

I'll join... I don't agree with all the platform, but that's not really a problem.

This means I'm a member of two non-party non-union organisations (this and the RDC).

I will remain an interested observer for now.  However, I have put a link to the caucus website in AF Headquarters.
