What exactly (like what kind of trolling) did Hamilton and Libertas do?

I always hear about them but I never got around to reading their post history :/

Hamilton: Ugh, the less said the better. I'd have to write a novel to explain the whole thing, let's just say that he had a habit of rather vicious personal attacks and posting pointless spam (he sometimes made over 200 posts in one day) as his less offensive side. The more offensive side involved him being a very creepy and obsessive figure who frequently did things associated with sociopaths.

Libertas: Was very rude and abrasive, was a conspiracy theorist nut who would mock people who disagreed with him, was not a not-all-that-closeted anti-Semite, and a real habit of replying to people he disagreed with things like "Actually, you're wrong" without any explanation or elaboration, or more infamously just using the smiley to dismiss anything he disagreed with.

Yes, Assad did (does?) have some pretty serious mental issues. He ran (and was elected? I think?) for his local school board, btw.

Weird with the pattern of vicious trolls from NJ running for local office here, huh? At least Assad matured out of it before getting elected and DWTL lost. Makes you wonder if that krazen guy will be running for school board any time soon.

That was partially a case of Never Live It Down since I only recall him using the smiley without saying anything else about three or four times. But it was far far more common when he'd just dismissing the argument that he disagreed with without any elaboration.

I wasn't around for Hamilton.  Libertas was a genius who was clearly vastly more intelligent than pretty much everyone else here; which spelled his doom, since the thing people hate the most is when they're arguing with someone who's smarter than they are, and both of them know it.  He typically gave well-thought out, well sourced, intelligent arguments in debates, which he usually won; although he didn't give the time of day to idiots; which typically infuriated them.  One such individual was a certain Polish troll, who acquired one of his ridiculous vendettas after Libby responded to several particularly stupid statements with a "."  He also wasn't afraid to call out the mods on their BS, which led to their getting so butthurt that they started beseiging Dave with dozens of requests a day to ban him, and eventually (and unfortunately) Dave gave in.  However, this did not come prior to hilarity such as Joe Republic declaring he was QUITTING FOREVER and then reneging withing minutes.

His bad qualities included losing his temper a bit too easily, and being a bit of a homophobe (due to his conservative Catholic upbringing).  He was a bit of a conspiracist, thanks to Alex Jones, but wasn't really "anti-Semitic" at all; certainly far less than BRTD is anti-Irish.

Read his posting history.  You'll find it to be generally witty, constructive, and intelligent.  That's why several liberals I've talked to will admit in private that they didn't like his banning.

Oh, and Jake: Make sure you quote this post in its entirety when you quote it, since it is no doubt somehow "trolling."
